Beryl Harberg

"11/23- I am now post op and got to come home yesterday. I cannot say enough postive about Dr. Harberg. He is knowledgeable, all business, and gives the patient a great sense of comfort knowing that he is in control of things. He warned me and warned me that, because of my size, he may not be able to get to my gall bladder to remove it. He was able to get it as well. Pre-11/19- I have been trying to be approved for Dr. Harberg to do this surgery for almost four years now. Now that I am on my third insurance company, there is actual hope. On first impression, Dr. Harberg seems a bit like a crotchety old man. But he does have a sense of humor that can come through at times. However, one thing he will not joke about is the seriousness of this procedure. He makes sure you understand that. His staff is wonderful to work with and is willing to try, try, try to help fight the insurance battle."

Park Plaza Hospital

"Overall I was very impressed with this hospital. The qauality of care was, without question, very high. My one gripe deals with the unwillingness of some of the nurses to extend the help I needed to me when I needed it. I honestly think that some of them were intimidated by my size...maybe even fearful that I might fall on them or they might not be able to handle it if I did start to fall. There were times when I was first trying to stand again when there would be two nurses (or a nurse and an aide) standing next to me doing nothing to support me. I would eventually have to say, "Please push on my back to help me stand." or "Please lift under my arm as I stand." and things like that. It was especially frustrating as I tried to roll to my side in bed and needed to have pillows stuffed behind my back to support me. Some acted clueless about this process. On the positive, I had two outstanding nurses and many others that were very good in most respects. I don't want to harp on this one issue, because my overall experience here was very positive. The "Bari-beds" were wonderful, taking me from a laying to an almost standing poostitions withou me having to do anything. They were very helpful in gettting me us and around faster...because the "getting up" is much harder than the "being up"."
