Well, it’s official! You’re on the losing side. The trumpets are blaring, the cymbals are crashing and the drums are drumming – all for YOU! I hope that all went well for you! Your journey will have moments to “pause” - Feel free to look at my profile and see my ups and downs and know I’d not change a thing with anything I’ve experienced. Everything was worth it! – I’d like to impart some words of wisdom for when it does occur - remember these wise words whispered by Confucius – “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” Be patient. You didn’t put it on over night, it won’t come off over night (DARN IT!)…Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly and take lots of pictures…the transformations will make your jaw drop!!! RNY 10/31/03 257/133 Good luck!
All right Michael! Sounds like you're doing pretty good! I hope your recovery goes very well, and keep up the walking, as it does wonders with aiding recovery. Take good care, and you are on the road to good health!! Hugs, Grace, -111# post-op.
Super to hear that you are doing so well Michael! Sounds like you are really moving well and healing fast! It is hard at first to get your protein in but the more you do, the quicker you will recover! Keep up the great job!
The surgery went real well! The first 2 days the real pain that he experienced was due to the position he was in during surgery. In less than 24 hrs he was up in a recliner and moving around.
He had a low grade fever once he left the recovery room (99.5) and then it went down to 99.1 and remained there for another day while in ICU. Friday evening his white blood cell count went up to 12.8 and then went back to 11 not long afterwards. The nurses stated that this was nothing to be alarmed with and was expected.
On Saturday evening he was released to a regular room. The bed was awful and he did not have a very restful night! He continues to really walk alot! He is all over the hospital! He has such determination!
Sunday, I got to bring him home! The kids were so excited! He has continued to do marvelous. Gas pains are just about the extent of his pain. The VA sent us home with 3 cases of French Vanilla resource. He never had that flavor in the hospital. He liked the peach and wild berry real well! He doesn't drink coffee and he associates the French Vanilla with coffee creamer.
Monday 26th we went to Wal-Mart to get some items for his diet. He did fabulous.
Tuesday 27th I had to return to work! I sure hated to leave him alone. He called and said he feels good. He's still taking it easy and doing his walking. He talked to the dietician today and he can go progress to the full liquid diet now! He reluctantly drank some of the resource and then said that he thinks it actually helped with his gas pains! GO FIGURE!
We return to the Dallas VA on Friday the 30th for his follow up appointment! :)
Michael,
I will be having surgery a week after you. I pray you have a successful surgery with no complications. May God bless and keep you during this process.
