9/5/03 - Well everything has been going fine except that I have been on 2 mega plateaus since the end of July with only a few days in between them. I can't seem to break out of the plateaus and its very frustrating. I've gotten back on the Protein Train and am drinking more fluids making sure to get my 64oz a day in, which I mostly get from decaffinated tea. I'm determined to get back on track with my exercising, I have a bunch of videotapes from "The Firm" that last from 30-60 minutes, which I MUST get back to using. While I'm frustrated with my weight loss, I have been losing inches like crazy and have dropped from a 24/26 to a 16 in less than 6 months, Yeah!

My personal opinion of your husband is that he sounds to be very inconsiderate of your needs and he should try to find some personal help. If he doesn’t quit bring junk food home take the cake and throw it in his face then maybe he'll get the picture. By the way I know a great psychologist that you can refer him to! Maybe he'll run into my husband at one of his visits. Good Luck and God Bless

I hardly miss a day reading the Message Board, however, its been quite a while since I updated. I've now lost 74lbs. since my March 12, 2003 wls. As I'm 5'6-1/2" tall my personal goal is between 140 and 150lbs, which leaves me with around 75lbs. left to lose. I've only dumped twice and I know that one of those times was because I drank water too fast, I've thrown up from drinking too much water, I never really liked water and it appears that water is not my friend, neither is any type of bread. I'm not as good with exercising as I should be, but I intend to improve on this. I seem to be eating between 500-700 calories a day. I've just reached the point where I sometimes "think" I might be hungry, I usually easily ignore this feeling and eat at my regular time. I'll try to update more often. Wherever you are on your journey, may you reach your ultimate goal, with speed and success!

Lorna next time he brings sweets in the house just accept them thank him and toss them in teh trash in front of him... maybe eh will get teh message that you dont want any more sweets...

Lorna, I do not believe that just telling your husband to stop buying you sweets or anything else is going to work. I would sit down and talk with him and see why he is sabotaging your weight loss effort. Get to the bottom of why he seems to not want you to lose weight. Good luck with your weight loss and your husband. God Bless.

I'm 2 months post-op and feel like I am losing very slowly, only 37 lbs. I already had a plateau where it took 2 weeks for me to drop 1 lb. I am having a tough time eating something for dinner. I do okay with a couple strips of bacon and skim milk for breakfast and then usually have a salad with tuna fish, chicken breast or hamburger patty for lunch. Just the thought of eating after I get home from work makes me nauseated, does anyone else feel this way? My DH who struggles to maintain 170 lbs. at 6' says that he supports me and is happy with the weight loss I've accomplished so far, but his actions show otherwise. Two weeks ago he bought me some Entemann's Cinnamon Buns with lots of icing and a box of glazed donut holes. Both can sit on the counter unopened until they grow mold, he knows better, he's tried to sabotage my weight loss attempts before. Is there anything more I can tell him besides "please don't do buy me any sweets" again because telling him this is not working?

I am 16 days post-op and have had an uneventful recovery. As of today (3/28/03) I have lost 18 lbs. I had an open rny and my incision is 4 inches long. My problems are, getting enough liquids in, and I hate my Proteinex supplement, I'm going to try to find a protein supplement that I like. I don't get hungry and am not sure if I'm eating enough. I'm going back to work in 3 days, I'm sometimes tired but feel like I can go back to work, I'm bored! I'd like to thank everyone who left messages on my profile page you are all thoughtful, wonderful people. I wish all pre-ops God speed and easy recoveries. I'll write again soon.
