"My surgeon is Dr. Macik and he's with Dr. Waits' practice and was recently certified for gastric bypass surgery. Dr. Macik has been assisting Dr. Waits for the past year with all the RYN open surgeries and he has been a general surgeon for many many years. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to meet him yet. I have met Dr. Waits and he and his staff have reassured me that Dr. Macik is an excellent surgeon--I trust Dr. Waits and his staff. Dr. Waits has a long list of credentials and has been doing the surgery since 1983. He's an "old hat" at it by now. I have been attending the support group he recommended for the past two months and those meetings have been a world of help. I plan to continue attending the support groups for years after my surgery. I would like to be involved in the meetings and help other patients who are beginning their journey. Dr. Waits office is SO organized--everyone there knows exactly what to do from his office manager to his nurses to Dr. Waits himself. I feel fortunate to live in a metropolitan area like Atlanta because I think I have a great choice of surgeons to choose from. I found Dr. Waits listed under the Bariatric Society and he also has a website at webMD. Another reason I chose Dr. Waits was because he accepts my PPO insurance. "
