Michelle, Congrats on a successful surgery. About Big Mac's...I am 6 mos post-op and still struggle with my mental desires for food that I know is bad for me. However, I try to channel my desires other ways, exercise, playing with my daughter, shopping etc. As for your mom, I know it's a difficult situation but ignore them. You will succeed with this surgery as long as you: drink your water, eat your protein and exercise! If your mom is heavy, she may very well be jealous that a new slim you is on the way!! My best to you, this surgery will work for you!

Hi Michelle: I've always heard that the best revenge is living well. Set your own goals, using your own standards, and you will succeed. It's nice to have the support of family, but it's not a requirement. Stand tall, shoulders back, and thumb your nose at them. Good luck and many prayers for your peace of mind. chris

You can't pick your family but you can pick who you spend time with and who you surround yourself with. Choose friends who support you and believe in you and leave the others alone. Eventually, when you are stronger and feeling more confident in your decision, you can deal with your family. If they aren't there for you when you need them, to heck with them! You are a strong, amazing woman who took charge of her life. You CAN do this! I would suggest some counseling to help you deal with your feelings. Probably a couple visits and you'll feel more in control. Good luck to you and remember you have literally thousands of people supporting you!

Hi All! I'm Michelle Sneen's husband. Just wanted to let you all know that Shell came through the surgery with flying colors. Unfortunately, she ended up going into surgery just about the time she was scheduled to be getting out of recovery. Oh well, thank God she made it through so well. I was up to see her earlier today. At first she looked, acted, and generally felt miserable. However, once she had her NG tube removed, her general apperance and spirits improved markedly. She has been up walking and, with the good barium test, is starting on the clear fluids (broth, gelatin, etc.). Looks like she will be home sometime Saturday afternoon to begin the rest of her life. Thanks for the support--Marty
