Annette, my daughter had open Rny 4/30/03 with Leo Murphy because she didn't want to wait several more months for a Lap procedure at PB. She's doing very well and was off work 6 weeks postop to recover. Recovery with Lap is about 1/2 that time and the scars are smaller. Best wishes to you.

Personal Comments: 2-10-03 Called Dr. to ask about a refferal for WLS, instead of making me an appointment she reffered me without seeing me. Her assistant called me back to tell me i was reffered and told me I had an appointment on 3-18-03 for the WLS info class. Not knowing what to expect I waited. 3-18-03 went to class excited and hopeful...during class I became discouraged and stressed.... I was informed that if I didnt meet the specifics I would not be authorized through Kaiser....for the past 12 years I had no insurance and learned to live with a lot of aches and pains and so called inconveniences of being obese. Needless to say I had no documentation of co-morbids. I immediately went home and bawled my eyes out....back to the drawing board. I immediately made an appointment with my doc, went in expecting to have to scream , cry and throw a fit. Turns out it wasnt necessary.. 3-21-03 Saw doc today, she said i definately needed the surgery and ordered a sleep study. Been having trouble waking with headaches and snoring etc..my poor fiance' :)..he is so wonderful through all this...any way I am set up for tests and hopefully on the right track as of now. I will have to wait a couple of days to make sure my sleep study refferal was sent out but i am feeling pretty positive about this now.
