Well tomarrow is the BIG day and I am sooooooo nerveous. I think that by filling up my time will help so I decided to update my file. This process seems long till it's here then you wonder how it got here so fast. I found a doctor in my town through a friend that had this surgery. I live in a medical college town in Greenville NC so doctors here are easy to find. I did have to wait a year for it all to happen but I think that was good for me cause I think that I needed the time to be sure this was for me. I was accepted quickly by my doctor and the 1st appt. was October 1st 2001. my tests were completed by Dec. 28th 2001 and my 2nd meeting with the doctor was Feb. 12 then the insurance letter went out March 4.....March 13 9 days later I was approved. My surgery date is tomarrow April 18, 2002. The waiting list for my 1st appointment took the longest. like 6 months. I have a cool story about my insurance approval day.....My mom was reading a book called "What happens when women pray" a book our church book club was reading..the last chapter was about praying specific for your petitions to God. So her prayer that day was that I would have an approval for my insureance by the end of the week (this was on wednesday) and that my surgery would be before summer. That afternoon the insurance company called and said I was approved to the doctor office. The lady there tried to call but I wasn't home. That afternoon a lady called and postponed her surgery till later in the year and rather than my surgery being in August sometime she put me in the cancellations spot and my surgery was only 1 month away. God is so faithful!!!! So now it's April 17th..... Next time I log in an entry it will be from the "other side"............

Elisha, I am wishing you a successful, complication-free surgery and a smooth, quick recovery. I had my Open RNY on 12/10/01 and have absolutely NO regrets other than not having had it several years sooner. It is, without a doubt, the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you begin your healthy new life.

I wish you all the very best on your upcoming, life saving surgery. I KNOW it saved my life and my husbands too. We both had wls in 2001 and have lost a combined total of 280 lbs. It will work for you if you work with it.
