"My first impression of Dr.Baltasar was that he genuinely cares about obese people and wants to see them live.
He spent a lot of time addressing all of my concerns. He was in no rush.
Dr. Baltasar is in Spain and is a self-pay doctor. The national health care system over here is backed up for well over 2 years to even be considered for this surgery. He has been performing WLS since 1977 and has studied in the USA with several surgeons (one is Carnie Wilson's surgeon). He is a member of the ASBS and the Founder & President of IFSO (Spanish Surgical Bariatric Society) in Spain. His English is beautiful. He is fluent.
He believes in support in whatever way you can get it. He is readily available via email and telephone to answer any questions or concerns post-op. He also believes that no matter where you come from... if you are his patient, you are his patient for life.
He was very thorough in explaining the risks AND the benefits of surgery.
On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the best), I would have to rate him as a 9.5.
His bedside manner is absolutely wonderful!!! He genuinely cares. His surgical competence speaks for itself. Nothing short of fabulous.
I have had the opportunity to get to know Dr. Baltasar a little better over the course of this past year and the more I know, the more I like.
I took my 16 yr old daughter to him and he treated her like the little queen she is. He had her surgery complete in 93 minutes. I trust this man completely. otherwise, he would have never operated on my baby. This should speak volumes to anyone who is considering this wonderful surgeon for themselves."
