"I had originally met with a doctor in Tampa, but his waiting list was soooo long that I tried another doctor in Ocala that had been highly recommended by my insurance company. He is Dr. Overcash. He was able to get me in right away for my initial consultation. He called me back and weighed me himself, which was a nice touch. He is a VERY busy man, but seems to stick to your appointment time pretty well. His office was packed with people. His office staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Patrice and Marlene. Patrice was able to get my insurance approval in about an hour. Dr. Overcash is very direct and to the point about the surgery. He seemed to think I was a lightweight, which is funny. I weighed in at 262 lbs. at 5'9" but he said I definately was a good candidate. I don't have any serious health problems now, but that could change if I don't take control of the situation and lose the weight. He was very stern in the fact that you have to do exactly what he says if you want to heal right. He makes you have liquids only for 6 weeks, but that includes jello and pudding and soups. Anything that will go through a strainer. :) He says the best outcomes are those that follow what he says to a "t", so that's what I'll do. He likes to do the Open RNY better than LAP, so I'll go with that. He checks your gallbladder and will take it out if it's full of stones or infected. He does make you have an NG tube in the hospital to drain the gunk from your pouch. That comes out on the 4th day, after the leak test. He has a structured after care program that requires you to see him at 2 wks, 4wks, 6 wks, 8 wks, then monthly until he releases you. He told us that he had never lost any of his patients so that made me feel good. I have a lot of faith in him and have spoken to several people that have used him. He could have a little more bedside manner, but I think he's just so busy, that he doesn't have time to be chatty. I'm more interested in his surgical ability rather than his personality. My surgery is Feb. 4th so I'm getting excited! I will post more after."
