"Dr. Prithi Legha was the surgeon. He did not do a competent job monitering my daughter's post op care. My healthy 31 yr. old daughter died recently 10 days after her bariactric surgery. This was a sensless loss to humanity. She was bright, active and had no serious health effects at the time of her surgery. She felt it was worth the risk - it was not! Her death has ruined my life and the lives of many others have been affected.
She was not started with liquids & food in a timely manner (he waited 4 days), giving her intestine time to collapse. At 6 days she was still not holding down liquids, her IV's were clogged and she was left without fluids and blood thining drugs for at least 10 hrs., she may have gone as long as 20 hrs., making her severely dehydrated. Her leg cuffs had been removed, she had quit walking due to abdominal pain and was given no help. These are known causes of blood clots and that is what occurred.
