Wow!! Just two days to go!! I'm so excited for you. Even though your family isn't in town here, you have us. We are family! So glad you are here. My mom was at Good Sam just last week for a hip replacement surgery, and nursing was great there. Only thing is, your room is like 5 miles from the entrance and about 10 miles from the patient discharge area. When mom was discharged earlier this week I'm like where are you taking us???? LOL You'll see what I mean when you get discharged. It's funny.
Also, have your husband use the VALET parking - it's FREE and complimentary. And even if he leaves hospital AFTER the valet closes (7pm) he can get key/ticket from the receptionist/info desk by front door, and then they have a COMPLIMENTARY shuttle van that picks him up in front and sees his ticket and drives him to his car. DO NOT USE THE PARKING GARAGE BECAUSE AFTER TWO HOURS THEY CHARGE MONEY!!!!! Use Valet!! It's free!
However if your husband arrives AFTER valet closes (7pm) then he can park in outpatient/breast cancer center to RIGHT of entrance. They are closed and anyone can park there. And again they have free shuttle service to and from door. Mom was there for 7 days straight so I know everything a visitor needs to know!! LOL
And for YOU.....if you have a semi-private room then you need to know this. The TV you have has an earset plug-in, so ask nurse for ear phones for your TV. Also, even if your roommate has tv on low volume, for some reason in those rooms it's magnified, so ask nurse to give your roommate a earset as well. That way there is not a TV war going on. Yours gets louder then her's gets louder then yours gets louder, etc. If you both wear ear sets that works great. Telling your roommate to use the earset might not work though because, like you, she is on drugs, recouperating, so just ask nurse to give her earset for TV and nurse will bring some in, plug it in her TV and you are both set.
Lastly, there is FREE GUEST lodging there on the premises if your husband would like to stay overnight vs. driving home and back. Call Good Sam and ask for guest lodging and they can tell if you they have any availability. Guest lodging is on 2nd floor in WEST tower.
Okay, sorry all the advice, but being that mom just left there a few days ago, it's all fresh in my mind! LOL Have a great surgery and keep us posted on your progress!!!!
