Lorraine - you'll be fine! It's so much better on the lighter side. I had apnea and -95 later it's gone, so no more CPAP. We're all rooting for you!

Good luck on your upcoming surgery! CPAP? I've been using one for years, can't wait to get rid of it, but alas, not yet. I tool mine to the hospital and it was most appreciated. If you do use your cpap, you will go into the cardiac care unit post op, usual procedure, in order to watch your breathing, and then off you go to your room. The only problem I had was with the NG tubes, they did not allow a good seal to form with the cpap mask, but it was ok, just bothersome, until they took out the ng tubes. You'll do fine! In fact, I don't remember a thing about the surgery. There was some 'discomfort' after, but mainly from the incision site, and a small pillow held over it when you cough or sneeze, or walk around helps that along. You'll be on the losing side before your know it! Keep us posted on your progress! It is one amazing ride!

Best Wishes for a successful surgery and smooth recovery! Weigh to go! I just read another post from someone who just had surgery and the thing that hurts the most is their BACK. And it is PAINFUL, not just uncomfortable. THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR SURGEON, BEFORE THEY PUT YOU UNDER, IS TO PUT SOMETHING UNDER YOUR KNEES TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR BACK!!! Time and time again folks are coming out of the O.R. and their back is killing them. It’s because you are lying flat on your back for hours on a hard surface. How long can you do that now? If the surgeon will just put a rolled up blanket under your knees this problem will be eliminated! Got It?... Good…. Problem solved. (Or at least talk it over with him/her).
