My story is not new or unique. I was very obese.5 feet 3 inches 285 lbs in 2001. I was afraid. My father died in 2001 at 52 years of age. I felt that his death was directly related to his obesity. I took me months to research and decide to try this proceedure. It was no easy feat. The information was scattered and scary. The obesity help website was the best place to connect with others who had had the proceedure and also people who were considering this. I had surgery in December 2001. It is now October 2007. I vacillate between 170 and 180 lbs. I wear a size 10-12. I ran in my first 5 K race last month. Since surgery I have changed. I am now a regualr exercizer. I run, take african, belly,jazz dance classes. I have a better body image ( not perfect). I am more in tune with my feelings that contribute to my eating. My life has changed since surgery. I got married in 2003. I had a second child in 2004. I moved to a new state. My is in color and it was in black and white before.
