I am finally approved for a revision VSG!!!   I was banded in July of 2010 and lost about 80+ pounds and kept it off for nearly 2.5 years.  Then February 2013 my band slipped...... Emergency band removal (port was left in) while my doc was out of the country.  Then after careful consideration, we decided that the band was too risky for me now and we would do a revision VSG.  That was in February.

After healing for 3 months, started the process for approval.  I had gained some weight (~15 pounds), got the nutrition and psych approval, but was rejected 3 times for the revision because my BMI was too low.

Very disappointing, frustrating and all around bad for my head!  I still had the port and tubing in me and I guess my insurance company considered that a "parting gift".  So the only way that I could have a revision was to gain weight!  Do the unthinkable, become fat and unhealthy again.  Great work insurance company, I didn't know that I was supposed to be "cured" of my obesity even when my tool was removed.  So, back on the C-PAP, back on High Blood Pressure medicine, welcome back knee and joint pain, and oh how I missed you Mr. Depression, glad to see YOU again.

So, finally in November after my doc and I watched the scale go up and up and up, the insurance company got what they needed, a nearly 50 pound weight gain and they gave me my approval.

I am not feeling so hot about myself, but anxious to start this journey again and with a permanent solution/tool this time.  I really was very happy with the band, but never would have wanted to risk going through the slip again and working hard to find that "sweet spot" that would come and go.  Thinking that the VSG is going to be a great fit!

I am ready to go and make this the year I return to the "happy me"!!
