Park Nicollet Bariatric Surgery Program

"Park Nicollet is a beautiful hospital and in it I have met nurses and other employees that were great people and amazing at what they do; Candace Johnson is one of the nurses I speak of, but there are a number of bad apples that ruin the bunch. My experience at PNC was great up until I met the bariatric supervisor Teri Sempf and bariatrician Jennifer Vesely. My encounters with these two women were very short, but still very disturbing. In my first conversation with Teri, it was evident that she gave no concern to my comfort or rights as a patient and had a severe lack of leadership skills and judgement. My first interaction with Teri was an angry phone call regarding my appointment with a new dietitian. During the call Teri called me a liar and told me that I shouldn't be seeing any new dietitians because Susan (the dietitian I only saw once) knew what was best for me. She then referred me to Dr. Veseley. My appointment with Dr. Veseley was more a kin to a reality show than a doctor visit. Veseley never once mentioned anything about my health or treatment, she made it clear she was there to make verbal attacks on me for upsetting her friends Susan and Teri and tell me I could no longer have surgery at PNC because she,Teri, and Susan did not like me. She also told me that they decided that I should be on medical weight management indefinitely. No one even asked me if I was okay with weight loss drugs. I would not recommend this center to anyone who wishes to actually benefit from going to doctor appointments and wish to be apart of the decision making when it comes to their health. Park Nicollet has some great people, and they make an effort to work as a team, but they do not believe the patient should be on that team and do not advocate for their patients. I switched to Fairview and have been much happier, all of my providers speak TO me now and not down to me and I am always apart of the conversations regarding my health. "
