Yea!!! Surgery is done!

Jul 21, 2012

OK, surgery is over and I'm back home. It's been 12 days since my surgery. I'm still hurting... just at the one biggest incision where the port is.  It's right under my left breast, feels like it's right on top of my ribs.  Even as swelling is going down it feels like it's  SOOOO in the way.  I wonder if anyone else has had this problem and I hope it gets better. Have only lost 4 pounds since surgery. I know the band hasn't been filled yet, so I hope it will speed up when I get the first fill on Aug. 8th.  Blood pressure's been much lower than usual and have been very very sleepy all the time. Trying to get my walking in, but it's so hot these days and still so uncomfortable with the port incision haven't gotten nearly enough excercise.  It's hard as single mom to go walk early in the morning or late enough at night that it's not 100 degrees outside, lol.  Anyway, just feelin kinda crabby but, hoping things will start looking up soon. Thanks for listening!

FINALLY!!!!!

Jun 28, 2012

Well, it's finally approved and surgery is set for July 9, 2012.  I'm sooo excited!!  In Little Rock today and tomorrow for pre-op testing, nutrition class and first actual appointment with Dr. Fuller.  I can't  believe it's all fixin to happen.  I need this surgery badly.  I'm 44 years old with a VERY VERY active and ADHD 6 year old.  Didn't think I would be a "mommy" at this stage in my life, but I am, and I need to be able to take care of her and keep up with her and have fun with her. Also, need to show her how to live a healthy life and be active. I guess we'll be learning together.   Wish me luck, PLEEZ!

Finally! Maybe!...I hope!

May 29, 2012

Well after about 5 years and two or three set baks, it looks like I finally have everything together to be able to have the lap band.  Dr. Fullers office should be sending everthing to my insurance company in the next few days. I was beginning to think it was never gonna happen. I'm definitely feeling more positive now than ever.  Scared to death too. Mostly because I know that I have to and hope that I can keep up my own end of this deal. I Pray that God keep me in His sights along this journey.

6 Month Supervised Diet complete! Now what?

Jun 11, 2008

Ok, well Dr. Baker's office told me that with Medicare and Medicaid you have to have a 6 month medically supervised diet before they can even talk to you.  Well, that's over as of about a month ago, I lost about 11 pounds, which now puts me just barely below the 40 BMI that is required.  I'm VERY FRUSTRATED at this point.  Don't really know what to do from here.  Is a BMI of 39.3 versus 40 really a deciding factor?  I did this diet honestly for 6 months and truthfully lost most of that weight during a month when I was VERY sick.  It's very frustrating and upsetting when they tell you that if you are doing what they tell you to do that you would be losing weight.  That you must be doing something wrong.  I don't know what to tell them, except I followed orders. Can EVERYONE really be put into the same file or category like that? I'm so tired of rude and uncaring doctors I could just scream.  I'm not feeling very positive right now.  I feel like I'm just doomed to be forever fat because I'm not FAT ENOUGH to require and REAL HELP!  Any thoughts or advise on what I could do now would be ever so helpful

Here we go!

Sep 30, 2007

Well, here we go!  My  PCP has agreed to back me all the way.  That's really as far as I've gotten.  Trying to gather all the info I need to get insurance approval as soon as possible.  Already on disability, health is not exactly wonderful as it is.  My weight just keeps going up.  Over the years doctors have just been rude and uncaring.  When I ask for help, they just basically tell me to stay out of the refrigerator.  That doesn't help, nor does it work.  I can't keep up with my wonderful, but VERY energetic 15 month old.  Can't exercise like I want to because my feet hurt so bad when I do.  I have dieted over and over again and can loose weight, but you can never stay on a diet forever(and even that's not healthy at all).  The weight just comes back and more.  But, I'm sure you all know this.  Hoping and praying to be able to live light and healthy!  Wish me luck.
