Well, here it has been a little over a year out and I am down 165 lbs down from my heaviest.  Now it is time, I am getting my umbilical hernia fixed and a tummy tuck to boot.  Yay I am finally losing my alien.  Surgery is on the 20 th of June. I am looking forward to this, hopefully this will be the end of my journey and all I have to do is maintain.

I had to go down to Grand Rapids today it was rainy but a lot better than the snow storm we had last time we drove down.  Had my group meeting with the dietician, exercise guy and a PA.  There were 4 of us there for the meeting.  They went over diet and exersize before and after surgery, and had us pick out our products we will be eating for the next 2 weeks.  They discussed what to expect at the hospital.  The PA went over our med lists and adjusted them accordingly.  All in all it was a good meeting.  When I weighed in I was already down 20 lbs, that made me happy.  I have already been on the product for about 12 days so that gave me a head start.  They want to shrink my liver.  I go back on the 25th for my final preop appt, it won't be long now.

Had an appt. with dietician today, am starting preop diet tomorrow.  This should be interesting, I have to be on this until surgery.  Also had appt. with PA today, that went well.  He just wanted to go over my current meds and make sure nothing had to be adjusted.  Things are moving along well.  Starting weight 396.8.

It looks like it is finally going to happen, got the call today for a May 1st surgery date.  I go in 4/5 for my preop diet.  The doctor wants me on an extended diet to get some weight off. 

Had my EGD today, went really well.  He found a small ulcer which was caused from my asprin regimen but he said it won't affect my surgery.  Also had a re eval with the behaviorist and things are looking better than last year.  I should be hearing from them to set up an appt for my preop diet soon and have a date scheduled hopefully next month.

Well I had my second appointment with the dietician and that went well.  She said she thinks I am ready for this because I have been making the changes I need.  Also had a consult with the surgeon again and he also thinks I am ready.  He said after my EGD on thursday I should be set to go.  I should be getting my preop diet soon after that and they figure on surgery in April sometime.  I am ready.

I guess I should update.... I had an appointment with the dietician, which went smoothly.  She did feel like I had everything under control and knew what was expected, so I don't think I will have to be going back until it is time for the presurgery diet.  I have an appointment with Dr. Foote again March 12 and an EGD March 15 plus a behaviorist appt.  It sucks that I have to pay for another behaviorist appt., nothing has changed since last year and it was there fault I had to delay surgery.

I had my appt. with internist today, was a little disappointed with the outcome.  She won't even continue until I quit smoking again, which I have when I began this process over again, but I have to wait 2 wks to have a screen.  Now they want an endoscope too and she wants me to see a dietician on top of the one I have to see for them.  I just can't afford extra dietician visits.  I am just getting frustrated, last year I was an appt away from surgery now it is like they don't even want to help.

   

01-05-2007: I am back for how long I don't know. I almost had surgery last year but had to put it on hold due to a heart med I was on. Now I am cleared and can have it done but now they want me to go throught the whole program over again. Which sucks, as I live so far away and I already paid for some of it, now they want me to do it again because it has been longer than 6 months. I can't afford to start over again they must think we are made of money.

 01-05-2007:  I called MMPC back and they told me I don't have to go to the orientation again and they set up an appt with the internist.  It will be up to him if I have to start over again.  I pray that I can start where I left off, I was to the point of getting the pre-op diet and schedule surgery.
