David M. Brams

"These are my personal impressions of my experience and I am making no statements about what other people may experience... Q - What was your first impression of him? A - Very informative and and passionate about helping obese patients Q - How did your impression change over time? A - It hasn't. Q - How would you describe his office staff? A - They are fantastic! Great program very well thought out and educated staff. Pam, Tonya and Leslie are the best! Q - What did you like least about him? A - He can come across as being distant and very direct. If you are a deeply emotional person you might find his style may put you off. It didn't for me but it did for a friend who felt he didn't understand her emotional needs. Personally I'd prefer a Doc who is the best at the surgery and his staff can stroke my ego later. Q - What should future patients know about him? A - Come prepared and educate yourself. Put in an equal amount of dedication and passion and he will do the same. Q - How much does he emphasize aftercare? A- Very much, the program is excellent and the first time I ever heard him speak (in the info session) he STRESSED that after care is for life. That was big selling point for me. He was also able to articulate stich and port placement research that had only been published for 48 hours when I met him. - He is knowledgable and keeps up on all current Bariatric research. Q - Does he have a structured aftercare program? A - Yes, very well thought out. Includes nutrition and behavioral modification. Q - How did he address the risks of surgery? A - Openly with great candor. Q - How would you rate him overall? A - Excellent on a scale of 1 - 10 a 9.8. I had an issue immediatly following surgery (allergic reaction to post surgical medications) that he was not aware of due to the staff not telling him. Q - Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great? A - Both are a good balance. Neither one detracts from the other. Which was another key selling point for me. But like I said I prefer a doc who is competent and maybe a little light in the bedside warm and fuzzies than a super friendly Doc who maybe doesn't have the surgical accumen."
