About Me

Jul 04, 2013

Just a quick post about me for those who decide they want to look for it. LOL My highest weight is about 306, but I count down from my last visit with my primary care dr. in Feb 2013 when I weighed 304. I finally decided I had enough and needed to make a change. I don't know exactly what made me decide on weight loss surgery finally. I know that my becoming a nurse has affected me, as well as the loss of my mother in 2012.  I needed to make a change for my health. Really, I am one of those healthy fat girls. Low BP, low cholesterol, not one single problem with my blood sugar or heart issues. But, I can feel the ache in my knees and I can feel gravity and this weight taking a toll on my body.

I am 42 now and I just feel like my youth no longer compensates for all this extra weight I am carrying around. I was tired of being tired and decided now was the time. So, I went to the seminar at my local clinic and had them check my insurance. Was this really possible? I had known many people who had surgery, but not in a while. Then I found out that 2 people I knew had just had surgery with the same Dr. One had GS, and one had Lap Band. Both were doing well, and both would tell me the truth about their experiences, good or bad.

So, I decided to move forward, albeit slowly. I met with the Dr. , the nutritionist, and eventually the psychiatrist. My insurance requires me to lose 10% of my body weight on my own before I can even submit for insurance approval. So, I feel like I was taking a big gamble jumping through all these hoops not even knowing if I could lose 31 lbs in the first place.

So, I followed the nutritionist's guidelines (I fell off the wagon for a whole month though), and it slowly came off. I ate right and exercised and here I am 5 lbs away from the 31 lb goal. I have had my EGD, and I am so stinking close to putting it all to insurance for approval. I am so excited now that I can't get over it. LOL

I recently went shopping with my stepdaughter. I have refused to buy anything in my current size since I am losing now and will surely be losing much more soon. I look at the size large and medium and wonder what it will be like. If I can actually get that far. My stepdaughter and husband are incredibly supportive, even though they aren't always thrilled about all the healthy food we eat these days. LOL

I went from a chubby kid to a plus sizes in one summer, between 5th and 6th grade. I never ever remember wearing clothes that didn't have a # below 20, or that didn't have an X in them. I can't stinking wait! LOL

So, on that note, off to have a protein shake for lunch and get back to cleaning my house. No more sitting on the couch for me today. :-)
