7 Months Post-Op

Nov 21, 2008

So a lot has happened over the last month and I have not really been on the site much.

I am happy to announce that I have finally lost over 100 lbs.  YAY!!!! It is pretty amazing and sometimes I can't believe it.

My husband had RNY surgery October 28th and had complications with an infection so he spent 10 days in the hospital and it was a slow healing process for him.  Then he developed blood clots in his right calf so I took him back to the hospital for an overnight stay.  Things are ok now and even though it has been rough he is doing great and knows this was still a good decision.

I was laid off on November 3rd so needless to say this has been a very trying time but I am plugging away.  I will hear on Monday Nov 24th if I got a job I really want.  I flew to San Diego for an interview on Monday Nov 17th and really like the company and people.  The nice thing about it, is that I will be working from my home in the Seattle area.

I am continuing to plug away and exercise and still feel so fantastic nothing can bring me down.  I continue to hold my head high and remember that adversity just makes me a stronger person.

Well what can I say.....Life is Good!!

I have lost a total of 86 lbs since 4/15/08 and absolutely love this new life I am living.

I continue to monitor what I am eating and make sure that I stay away from all sugar and bread.  I have added more protein and water back into my diet because I was slipping on both.

I have found a couple protein shakes that are pre-made that I really like.  Trader Joe's sells Worldwide Pure Protein which is pretty darn good, and I like Muscle Milk.  I can get a box of 24 Chocolate light (22 g protein) for 25.00 at Costco.  I like the pre-made a lot better than powder because I can take them anywhere.

The weight is coming off slower now but I am just plugging away and feel great that I continue to lose the weight.

I am getting ready to walk with WLS co-workers October 4th for the American Heart Association.  This represents a healthier lifestyle all of us have chosen!

Onward I go......I will update in another 4-6 weeks.

It is amazing how little things make such a huge impact on your life!

Almost 12 Weeks Post - Op

I thought I would give an update on how my progress is going.  Personally, I think that I am continuing to chug away at the process and am consistently losing weight.

I work out (biking, walking) at least an hour a day which has really helped me on my journey.  To help me with my walking I tend to put in a DVD while I walk and will watch an hour one day and the rest the next day.  This helps me get through my hour each day.

I continue to try different foods to see how they are going to work.  I have issues with Chicken so I am not sure why, but usually it doesn't sit good.  Steak is a much better option for me.  Actually Flat Iron steak is the best!

One thing I do battle with at times is when I finish eating sometimes smells will set me off.  I will get nauseous and almost lose my meal.  So I have to be careful.

In my first almost 12 weeks I have lost 64 lbs and I am very happy with my loss so far.

May 26, 2008

Today is 5/26/08 and I wanted to write an update since I have had my surgery.  I just got back from a trip to Oregon and personally I am very happy that I have made this decision to have WLS.  I feel really great, and my family saw me for the first time since I had the surgery and they all were very supportive.

Since I had surgery overall everything has gone very well and I can eat pretty much anything that is allowed.  I do not eat sugar or grains at all but can eat fish, seafood, soups, tuna fish, etc.

I have figured out what works best for me and when to stop eating so that I feel really good and not full.  I also make sure to take my daily supplements, and protein supplements everyday.  I work very hard on water intake also and try to get in at least 40oz's a day.

At work I have an incredible support system where there are 6 of us that have or are having WLS and it truly helps.  I find that if I am having a problem then I can always ask them what works for them and then I get a lot of suggestions.

This is work every day but it is so worth it and I am so happy that I have made this lifelong decision to get healthy and change my life for the better.

I will continue to write often now that I am figuring out all the functions on this site
