I would like to give you some background of my weight struggles. First off, I am 48 years old and weigh 250 lbs. at my heavieset.   I am a mere 5’2” so my BMI calculates to over 45.  I probably sound like many people on here and have had problems with the “yo-yo dieting”, trying everything—only to gain it back, plus more.  Being “extremely obese” (that sounds so bad) has made it harder and harder for daily activities. Just cleaning myself after a bowel movement is difficult. Tying my shoes or clipping my toenails—let alone trying to paint my toenails. I’ve had my husband and son help me with these things… it’s embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as public challenges (booths at restaurants, plane seats being snug with the meal trays coming down on my stomach).    Mostly, I would like to keep up with my adopted son and his activities. He’s 11 now with more energy than I can handle. I would like to take him camping and hike along with my husband without having them wait up for me to catch my breath. I feel like I am missing out with the world around me. I’m not a ‘spring chicken’ so I do want to enjoy my family and do more eventful things as well.   I know you have heard all this before, but I am so ready to learn to change my habits and lifestyle and hope you are able to help me through this—to begin a new life for me.   I'm hoping being on OH.com will help me stay on track and focused.
