Down 60 lbs!!

Jul 08, 2010

Okay, 58 pounds, but who is counting!

Well, I slipped away from the obesityhelp website for a few months thinking I could do this on my own, and it's a lonely out there.  I usually just come to this site to post my health tracker pounds lost...but I found an email today to join a WLS group that meets up on the 3rd Saturday of the month and not too far from home.  So I am going to give that a try.

I finally went back to the gym today after ......several......maybe 8 months of not being there.  It's a scary feeling going into a gym when everyone looks so good.  But I ran into my old personal trainer and he said "WOW....where did the rest of you go?"....hahaha  that was nice to have someone notice that I had lost a bunch of weight.  So I am planning on hitting the gym more often.  And now that I just became unemployed, no work can stand in my way!!

2 weeks post op!

Apr 20, 2010

WOW ....time is going by so fast.  This has to be the best decision by far that I have ever made. I can see the pounds slipping off of this old and tired body all the time.  I don't see it each day but looking into the mirror I see the wrinkled tummy (two tummies that is) is beginning to shape into one. This makes me happy.  I'll be able to see my belly button before too long.

Only 4 more weeks and I can get back to the gym. I don't mind working on the Wii and doing the aerobics but its becoming very boring in this house.  And the walks are also long and exhausting at times.  Soon the sun will be shining all the time and everything will be back to normal. Maybe its the Winter blues!!!

Getting nervous!

Mar 29, 2010

Exactly one day from today I will be in surgery!  Holy guacamole!  I'm going to be in another country and somebody is going to hack my stomach!  please God, make sure my surgery goes well....I am freaking out!

I found a new thing to eat that makes me happy  and registers as pudding so my carbs add up fast but they aren't really that high so I go by the numbers anyhow.  Take the sugar free chocolate pudding and only add HALF the fat free milk!!  There you have it.....mousse....and it taste SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD.  And of course the nutritional information says its hella carbs but we know that isn't right, we just removed 1/2.

Time to walk awhile!

Day 8 pre-op and switching surgeries

Mar 28, 2010

So here I am on day 8 of my pre-op diet and NOW I have decided to switch my surgery from lap-band to gastric sleeve. I can't find many people who are for the lap-band and it seems like for financial reasons and health reasons this would be the better fit for me.  I thought I did all the research but apparently I was so not with the program. All I researched was which doctor, which hospital and never really gave thought to the surgery because my head said "get the lap-band".

So why the switch?  There are too many variables with this lapband procedure. The main reason for opting for this to begin with,  was I didn't want anyone to   cut me. I just wanted something that I thought was reversable if and when I was ready. But come to find out, you have to make several trips to the doctor for fills/unfills, possible port flipping, possible corrosion, and when its all said and done, this is a foreign object inside you that your body doesnt want there to begin with.

So to my friend Kathy Gratias - thank you for walking this path with me and helping me to make a more wise decision. I know its really rough to tell someone what they are doing is really questionable especially if they are stubborn such as I am. But with some love, understanding, experience, and knowledge, Kathy has been my one Angel to whom I will be thankful for,, for the rest of my new life.

So Kathy, as you hit the pub today, CHEERS!!  Have a shot of something for me (I don't drink) and maybe make it a double!!

Day 3 Pre-op diet ...much better!

Mar 23, 2010

Well they say about the 3rd day you will start to have issues and want to stop this madness.  But here it is on my 3rd day and I am finally getting the hang of it!!  Guess I'll have the sugar withdrawls about day 5.

So the key here is to not eat ANY FRUIT.  Only eat eggs, chicken breasts, cheese, lots of water, more water, and some fish, and did I mention the water.

I HATE WATER.....good thing for this crystal lite stuff.  I tried yesterday to drink as much water as possible and couldn't even finish a bottle.  Today,  I added this iced tea with lemon and I've already had two bottles and its not even noon yet.  WOW. I surprise myself sometimes.

This isn't going to be hard.....I don't think.
Wish me luck!!

2 days into pre-op and I am blowing it!!

Mar 22, 2010

WOW ... just when I thought I knew what I was doing I find that calories don't really matter when it comes to some foods. I had an apple yesterday to fill me up alittle and today a banana and wouldn't you know it? The banana had enough carbs in it to last my whole day.

So I guess I will lay low of the fruit and go buy some cheese.  That just doesn't sound right for a diet of any kind. Chicken and cheese.  WOW...this is going to be tough!

16 days to go

Mar 19, 2010

Here it is Friday, and one day away from my grandkid's 6th birthday party.  I get to make that party the last stop of fast food and junk before I start my two week pre-op diet.  I will probably post a picture of "fat me" eating a piece of cake as a reminder that having that nasty sugar frosting was not all that!! One year from that day I will post another picture of me sipping a glass of water or something....and knowing that the Lap-Band surgery was the best, by far, decision I could have made for me and my health!!

Okay....now for a cup of coffee.
