Starting the Journey. 8/31/07
Aug 31, 2007
I have been researching Lap Band surgery for a couple of years but never felt ready to make the step. Not sure what triggered it but I am ready. I am 35 years old married with 2 children. I have a very blessed and full life and have just decided it is time to take charge and get healthy. My children, 12 and 8, need me and I don't want to be a burden on them when my health gets bad. I went to a Seminar on Aug 14, 2007 and am now just waiting to get my consultation scheduled. I already know that my insurance excludes this so I will be self pay. It's a lot of money but you can't put a price on your life so to me it will be worth every penny. Wish me luck.
9/6/07 I now have a date for my consultation. Yeah!! Sept 19th with Dr Paynter at Gastric Band Institute.
9/20/07 Consultation went good. He gave me a list of all my pre op tests so I went to my pcp today and she is gonna order these for me.
9/21/07 Had my upper GI done this morning so I just need to get my results and pay a deposit to schedule surgery....Maybe sometime next week.
10/12/07 Well they called me this morning and finally I have scheduled my surgery!!! YEAH!!! I am scheduled for 10/24/07... Talking about last minute. She told me hurry and get your blood work done. No big deal I work in a doctors office so I am on my way!
10/23/07 Well tomorrow is the big day. I am excited, scared to death, can't wait to get it done, and I also want to back out....I guess this is all normal reactions.
10/26/07 Well I am finally banded. I am very sore and having a little of the gas but not bad. I am finding it hard with just liquids. It seems just to smell the broth right now makes me sick to my stomach so I am just doing a lot of drinking and eating jello and popsicles. I have had quite a few moments of OH MY GOD what have I done, but they always pass and I know it will be okay.
