Almost 11 weeks post-op and down 46 lbs!  It's still tough to eat sloooowly....tiny bites.....chew....chew...chew.  Still having problems with a lot of foods so I tend to stay with the 'safe' stuff.

For the most part I feel really good....and that's what counts!

I had my 2 week Post Op appointment today. Dr. Kam is very happy with my progress. I'm down 20 lbs.
at 299.1 lbs. His only concern is that I make sure I'm getting my water in.....easier
said than done, but I'm trying.
The Nutritionist, although not happy about some of the things
I've been trying to eat, has no problems with my oatmeal because it helps keep me from feeling nauseous
when I take my meds.
Her main concern is that I concentrate on getting my protien in.
76 grams a day is a tall order, but I'm working on it.
I've been sick twice....once because my tummy doesn't like
cheese right now....and once because I either ate too much
or too fast.

It's a learning process. I'm sure I'll stumble a bit on the way, but I'll get there one step at a time

2 more sleeps to go! I think the butterflies from my page have jumped into my tummy.
The dreaded BEFORE pic and my measurements have been taken....
Well...here we go...next time I post it will all be over!

I got the call today! My Pre-Op date is Tuesday September 26/06
and my surgery date is Wednesday October 4, 2006.

There are no words to describe how I feel...elation....nervous...excited...relieved.....maybe all of the above.
All I know is that in 2 weeks it will all be over.

I've been approved and for my consult with Dr. Kam at Barix...all in one day! From the moment
I walked in the front door I knew I had made the right decision and that I would
follow through with this. Dr. Kam is wonderful....very 'real'...I
felt so comfortable with him.

I have a boyfriend who loves me just as I am. He
supports my decision 100%. He is a cyclist (yeah the kind with pedals...no motor) and this morning he
left for a 100 MILE ride in Ohio .
What I want more than anything....it's my main goal.....is to
be able to ride with him when the Spring comes.

Seven years ago, my heart went whacko. I was diagnosed with 'probable ARVD'....which means that my
right ventricle doesn't function too well and without warning my
heart can race to 220 b.p.m. I was implanted with a defibrillator and
put on meds. I learned the value of life, but was told at
the time that vigorous exercise could
make the disease progress, so even though I was overweight, I avoided almost everything
that got me moving....and my weight climbed.

Here I am 7 years later with a BMI of 48.5 and am being given a chance to regain QUALITY to my life.
I'm taking that chance and am developing yet another new
attitude.

A long life with limited quality is not worth living. I would sooner live every minute as though it were my
last.

On your mark...get set....GO!
If you're coming with me....get your butt in gear!
