Been Awhile

Oct 10, 2007

Well it has been awhile since I have posted anything to my profile.

What is new...lets see......Well since the end of August until now....I went on vacation to Nags head and had an amazing time in a wonderful house with a pool, sauna, and hot tub.  It was one of the best times I have ever spent on the beach.

After I got back I went for a second fill....which I think I am starting to fill a little bit of restriction....not quite there yet...but working on it.  My doctor, Dr. Northup, was very happy with my results!   I am looking forward to going back to him December and him seeing even a bigger change in me.

I also am now able to buy clothing in Old Navy without having to shop in their women's section.  I can wear a size 16 jeans...and they fit me wonderfully!  As of matter of fact I have gotten several of my fall/winter outfits from there...I will have to post a couple of pictures....and let you all tel me what you think.

I went to see my GP doctor last week...and I had my A1c checked and I am officially a non diabetic.  My A1C was 5.9 which is in the non diabetic range.  I still take my medication but it is only 1/2 the amount I was taking prior to surgery.

I also am having my teeth professionally whitened.   I go next week, Wednesday, to have the impressions made for the trays.  I chose to do the take home system because one it is cheaper and two you can get better results over the long term than treatment in the dentist office.  I am excited to see what I am able to get...my teeth are fairly white now...but since I only drink water now I don't think I no longer have to worry about staining them with sodas.

I figure when I am done with everything....I will have given myself an extreme makeover.    to date I have had lapband surgery, lasik surgery, and will have whitened my teeth....I figure by the time it all over said and done with...I will have lost 140lbs, more than likely had a tuck or two here and there...more than likely it will be arms, and thighs, and possibly tummy..although to date the tummy is coming in nicely.   I am also already planning on having a breast lift and and small fill to just fill them out since I wasn't given the worlds best breast...it is a curse in my family...none of the women have pretty breast....for the most part they flop down because there is basically no bottom to our boobs.  I don't want to be huge...just a full B or nice C and for them to stand up on their own.

Other than that I plan on having a complete makeover with my hair, and makeup...hopefully I will be able to afford someone who is good.  I would also like to (funds providing and once everything else is done) hire someone to help me with my woredrobe....I would like to have someone say this looks good, this doesn't, this is what you should look for, etc.  Sort of like a stylist...only to a non star...LOL.

I guess it is okay to dream huh???

3 Month Bandaversary!!!!!!!!!

Aug 22, 2007

Well Yesterday was my 3 month Bandaversary!   I didn't take my measurements or pictures yesterday....I hope to take my pictures tonight but if not I will do it tomorrow.

I had Lasik surgery yesterday!   So far so good!  I went today for my 1 day followup appointment and I can see 20/20.  They told me to expect some fluctuations but so far they were thrilled with my healing and results!  So that makes me very HAPPY!

Since I wasn't able yesterday to take my measurements I took them today!   I am still amazed at my progress.  I have changed so much in 3 months it is almost unbelievable the difference I see in myself.

Today I have lost 49.5 lbs.  I was really hoping for 50lbs at my 3 month mark but I will take 49.5 lbs....that is close enough for government work as they say!

Here are my inches Lost:
            This month                Total lost
Chest:  - .5                                     -3.5
Chest below boob: 0                   -3.5
Waist: -1                                        -6.5
Hips: - 2                                         -7
Thigh: -.5                                       -3.5
Calf: 0                                             -2.5
Arm: -1                                           -2.5
Face: 0                                           -2
Neck: -.5                                        -2

So a total of 5.5 inches lost this month but a grand total of  33 inches in all.

I am just thrilled with these numbers...but the changes in my outlook on life are completely night and day difference.  I have gotten my self confidence back.  I feel like I am a beautiful person once again and that I am worth it!  I feel wonderful about myself and I can't tell you how great that feels.  That is something that I haven't felt for a very long time!

I truly feel like this band has completely saved my life!  It has definately changed my life forever!

Can You Say White Belt!

Aug 16, 2007

Well I did it!   I took my test for White belt today and I PASSED!  YEAH FOR ME!  Who would have ever thought it...ME A WHITE BELT IN TAE KWON DO!

My master instructor said I did everything perfect!  One hundred percent right!  Sad thing though is that he gave me my belt at the end and then it was time to change....so it no more got put on before I had to take it off.   On Saturday it will be better because I can wear it all class!

Well the test consisted of the following:
joonbea (not sure the correct spelling) but it is ready position.
horseback ridding stance single middle punch/double middle punch/triple middle punch.
sparring stance single middle punch, double middle punch (right and left)
sparring stance front snap kick, round kick, side kick (both legs)  All three positions (low, middle, high) for each type of kick.
1 step sparring single middle punch, double middle punch
2 step sparring front snap kick, round kick, side kick
self defense techniques...1. if someone choking me, 2. if someone grabs me from behind around my neck, 3. if someone grabs my collar.
3 different Blocks,  Low Block, High Block, Middle Block (both right and left).

Answer the following questions:
What does Tae Kwon Do mean
Why do you take Tae Kwon Do
Why do we bow, and when do we bow.

count in Korean 1 - 10.

Then I got to break a board (the practice board) since breaking a board isn't required for White belt degree!

He then did a little ceremony and tied my white belt on.....I was so proud of myself!

Catch up!

Aug 13, 2007

Wow what a fast month this has been!     It is the 13th already and it is just flying by!  So much has happened that it will take me forever to tell you all about the changes in my life!

I am so excited so far August has been a wonderful month for me......I am having lasik surgery on August 21st.....it will be my 3 month surgery anniversary so I am anxious about weigh in day too.     I am really hoping to reach my 50 lb milestone by my 3 month anniversary!   How amazing is that to have lost 50lbs in 3 months....It would have never been possible without the band, this forum, and everyone on the forum!

I reserved a beach cottage at Nags Head for the week of September the 8th!  It is an amazing house and I got such an amazing deal that I am so excited I can't wait to go!   I don't want to wish my summer away but I am really excited to go.  I have invited my whole family down to join me for a night!   I know it isn't long but with their schedules, available time off, and school it is all they can do....but if they decide to come down we are going to have one heck of a pool party!  I will post pictures of the cottage!  it is called Park Place so I am going to feel like I am living in Monopoly!  LOL.    It has a private pool, a game room, a theater room, it is completely amazing!

I just got back from spending a few days in Williamsburg......I had such a great time!   I went to Busch Gardens on what had to be the hottest day of the summer.  but it was fun!   I rode the new roller coaster, The Griffon, which is one heck of a coaster!   205 foot drop at 90 degrees.....whew!   I went shopping and for the first time in my life I can shop in Ann Taylor and actually wear the clothes!   I was so excited I was shaking!   I am not sure what made me shake more...Shopping in Ann Taylor...or ...ridding The Griffon both were exciting!

Tae Kwon Do - Class 8

Aug 02, 2007

Well yesterday was my 8th class in Tae Kwon Do!  He really worked us hard yesterday with punching and kicking the bags!

He started with the typical warm up jogging and jumping jacks.  Then it was on to the class.    Where we did kicks, punches, and blocks.   He even had us bouncing while hitting the bag.  Talk about difficult try to remember your position, correctly punching the bag the whole time you are bouncing.   We did that before but we weren't actually hitting anything.  This time we had to make the proper contact with the punching bag.

Then we practiced the blocks, and punches but nothing really new this class.  Once we finished that is was conditioning our bodies so we had 20 full sit ups (which I DID!), 10 elevator rises (which is where we lay on our backs lift your legs (straight) your partner pushes against your legs to make them touch the ground while you hold them up in the air.   If you touch the ground it doesn't count!

We also did some partner stretches whre you lay on our backs put one leg up staight up (do not bend your knees on either leg) one leg is straight out in front and your partner lifts your leg as far as it will go back toward your head until you feel the stretch and holds it for 20 seconds.  Sounds easy but let me tell you it does get painful!

I know I am crazy but I look forward to every workout there!  When I live I am drenched with sweat!  But I feel great and it has been an excellent confidence builder.    My test will be coming up soon for White belt!    Who would have ever thought it!

Tae Kwon Do - Class 7 - Yesterday!

Jul 31, 2007

Wow it is hard to believe that this is the start of three weeks for Tae Kwon Do class!

Yesterday was class 7 start of week 3 and I broke a board!  Okay so it was a practice board but I punched that board and it broke!  Holy cow!

He ran us thru the mill today!   we started with warm up and stretches then it was on to punches!  He called out a series of punches and we performed them.......I was impressed with how well I did!   I only made one mistake the whole time he was randomly calling out the different punches.

We then stretched out the legs and went on to kicks....he did the same sort thing in that he called out different kicks.   I did great!   I even was able to do 10 snap front kicks without putting my foot down on the left side....on the right side I got off balance and ended up having to put my foot down after like 6 kicks.  but it was only for a second to regain my balance.   He said that was the balance exercise for today!

We then went on to do combos of blocks and punches and revisted some of the self defense moves we studied a few classes ago.

It was a great workout!

My Weekend and Tae Kwon Do class 6

Jul 30, 2007

Well my weekend was one full weekend!

First of all I had a yard sale with my sister on Saturday.  So Friday evening I spent getting ready for the yard sale....the good thing was I cleaned out my closet and removed all of the 22W, and most of the 20W clothing since they are all to large for me!   It all went to the yard sale!

Saturday it was a early morning up at 4:30 driving to my sisters with a car load full (the second car load full) to get setup for the yard sale.  The yard sale was in full swing when I had to leave to go to my Tae Kwon Do Class...which was at 9:30 a.m.

Tae Kwon Do Class 6....well I truly believed on Saturday he was trying to kill me again.  The class started with the same ole warm up of jogging and jumping jacks....then it was on to kicks, and blocks.  We did some fake sparring with our partners in practicing our blocks and kicks.   We went on to do some trust our partner exercises where one person lays down on the floor the other person straddles our feet and then the person stands jumps up and down opening and closing their legs  while the person lying down opens and closes their legs.  it is more difficult than it sounds because it takes a lot of concentration and coordination.  But that wasn't the exercise that convinced me he was out to kill me.....the exercise that I thought was going to do me in was the exercise this exercise to build upper body strength.

Remember the wheelbarrow as a kidd...where you laid on the ground got in push up position and your partner grabs and holds on to your legs in the air while you walk on your hands?  Well yes, that was the exercise.....we had to walk on our hands all the way across the room and touch the orange cone.....I thought I was going to die...but I DID IT!   The master instructor was my partner and yes he picked up my feet (which I thought was pretty impressive on his part) and I walked on my hands all the way across the room......he kept pushing me saying you can do it.....and I kept saying I am trying...I am trying....and I did it!  I touched the orange cone!      Then it was on to punches and more blocks and kicks!

I must be crazy but I am looking foward to class 7!

Sunday was a lazy day for me....I slept late!  well after getting up once at 4:00 to walk my little boy Cody..he needed some mommy time, water, and go potty...and then again at 7:30 I had to go!  LOL....but then I got back in bed and I went to sleep and I slept until 11:00 a.m. ...I couldn't believe it I haven't slept that late since I was a child!   I was really tired from my full day on Saturday!

I got up put on my workout clothes (my free day was Friday so that meant Sunday was workout day) grabbed a dvd (action packed bourne identity) and went downstairs and got on my treadmill.  I walked on my treadmill between speeds of 3.0 - 3.5 during the whole 2 hour movie!   I ended up walking over 6 miles!

Then I went over to my sisters for a early dinner cookout...and played with my niece in her baby pool......so all in all my weekend turned out to be a good one...oh and I made a 100.00 at the yard sale!  YEAH!

Tae Kwon Do - Class 5

Jul 26, 2007

Yesterday was Class 5 of Tae Kwon Do and I can really tell a difference!   I am getting stronger and I am able to control my body better already!  My master instructor even said that I was really improving!   He was even happy that I could do 15 full situps (sit all the way up...no crunches here!).

Yesterday we did blocks, kicks, and punches and my instructor did say that my first test would be coming soon!     I have been practicing and studing but the whole thought a test makes me nervous!  But if I pass it will mean I get the white belt....wow me a white belt in Tae Kwon Do who would have ever thought it??  LOL.  But you know? I am liking the sound of it!

I truly love doing this I feel so refreashed afterwards because the whole time I am punching and kicking and blocking in my mind I am fighting my obesity!   I just beat the  out of it, during the whole class!  Not to mention the truly great workout it gives me.

Who knows maybe I will be a black belt one day!   LOL

Weight workout - Day 5

Jul 25, 2007

Well today was my 5th weight workout at the gym.....I actually added a full stretching workout after my weight workout last time at the gym so I can become more limber which will help in my tae kwon do classes and in my pilates workouts!

So I am loving lifting the weights!   I don't lift very heavy weights because I am new at this with this being my 5th weight workout but I will add weight as my strength increases.   I really need to start writing down what I am doing so that way I will know if I am making progress and pushing myself hard enough!

I want these workout to do some good....I don't want to be doing all of this hard work for nothing and if I am pushing too light of weight that is exactly what it will be for...nothing.   I am not doing this to see no results!  So I think next week I will plan to take a notebook with me and start journaling everything!

I am really enjoying the stretching workout....I find it very relaxing and enjoyful after the strenous weight workout.   I sort of clear my mind and concentrate on the stretch and the music so it relaxes me.  Not to mention I can really see a difference after just a couple of sessions!

Tae Kwon Do - Class 4

Jul 24, 2007

Well today is the start of week 2 for Tae Kwon Do...and I still love it...even though I am sometimes convinced my master instructor is trying to kill me!

Today was fairly good though....we started with a little warm up session of jumping jacks....then some good stretches...and on to the training!

Today we did front kicks, round kick, and side kicks....we did front punches, double punches, and we even did some self defense moves.

He showed us how to defend ourselves if someone chokes us, grabs our collars, or grabs us from behind!   We actually did a little partner work with the kicks in that we stood as though we were going to spar and one person did two kicks forward while the other person moved back from the kicks....that was pretty fun....we did all three different types of kicks that we studied.

oh the funny part was when he had us stand in our sparring stance and bounce while single and double punching at the same time...talk about coordination to remember where your hands and feet are suppose to be all while remembering to keep bouncing...LOL   I wasn't laughing at the time because I had to concentrate too hard...but looking back on it, it makes me chuckle.

We also worked in partners for the back exercises....oh and we also did 10 pushups and 10 situps after a series of 10 front punches!

I really work up a sweat in these classes....they seem easy when I write them but trust me they are anything but easy in class!   It is an excellent workout!

Well looking forward to workout number 6 on Thursday!
