I finally did it...I had my consult and I'm super excited. I have wanted this surgery for a long time now, just didn't have the support or the funding to do it. I have a 2 year old it it is horrible trying to keep up with him and I know this will help me out in that aspect. On top of getting me healthy for my family.
This is my story.
I was always the chubby kid and grew up being the "fat friend". I hated it more than anything in this world. I ate my feelings and didn't care. My junior year of college I met the man of my dreams, he didn't care that I was over weight he loved me for me. We dated, got married and wanted to start a family. That was the hard part, I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) making it difficult for me to get pregnant. We talked and decided to go the fertility route, the first clinic I went to wouldn't help since I was so over weight. I did tons of research and found a great Dr who would help me, and now we have a beautiful little boy. I have tried more diets than I can count and even took prescription medication to help me lose the weight, nothing seems to work and this is the end of the rope so to speak for me to get health and live a long and happy life with my family.
I am going to try and write a little everyday to at least get my feeling out there and off my chest so hopefully after surgery I won't feel the need to eat my feelings.
Surgical consult....
I went for my surgical consult and the surgeon thinks I am a great candidate....everything it happening rather quickly and I hope to have surgery by the spring. Blood work done at the first consult. I have to see the nurse practitioner and the nutritionist on Dec 1, the next week I have to go in for a sleep study assessment (surgeon wants to be sure I don't have sleep apnea). The third week of Dec I will have my psych evaluation and a support group meeting....I will then have 2 more visits with the NP and the nutritionist a month apart ending the first week of Feb. I will keep you posted.
