Well mine is a story you have probably read a million times! I didn't grow up overweight . I was your "normal" kid. But I did grow up on home cooked food. You know mash potatoes, any kind of potatoes, homemade biscuits, fried meats, etc. And was always told to clean my plate. I think this is where it started, mentally anyways. I got married at 18 (yea I was to young) and thats when I started to gain. It was gradual though. I had my first daughter at age 22 and gained 50 lbs. with her. I lost about 40 lbs after she was born. I probably gained about 5 lbs. a year for the next 6 years. Then I got pregnant with my twin girls. I gained 45 lbs. with them and lost none of the weight after they were born. You would think I would have been to busy to eat but it was the opposite. I would be so tired that when they were asleep I "comforted" myself with food. Well this went on until I got to 326lbs. I was diabetic, had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, acid reflux , couldn't hardly get around without pain in my knees and so on. I tried so many diets over those years and I would lose but then would get frustrated because I would stop losing and then I would just give up. And then I would gain back what I lost plus some. After trying so many stupid diets out there my doctor finally told me to consider weight loss surgery. THANK GOD she did! I researched and studied and went to classes and seminars for a year then decided its what I needed and HAD to do. It took about 3 months once I got the ball to rolling to go through all the doc visits, nut visits, physc visits and insurance. I had my surgery , lap RNY on 3-10-08. It was the most scary but the best decision I have made in a long time. As I write this now I have lost 60 lbs. and I am 2 months post -op.

Well I'm updating my story! It's been 5 months since my surgery and I have lost 104 pounds! Yippee!! And I feel great! Everytime I go for a checkup my doctor is well pleased and my blood work always comes back good. This surgery has truly saved my life! I can do things I haven't done in years! We went to an amusement park last week and I rode rides and had a wonderful time! My kids couldn't even keep up with me! I'm going to the beach next week and can't wait. Although I haven't gotten brave enough to buy a swimsuit I WILL be out there on that beach and doing things I haven't done in forever! I do have some "floppy" skin but I would rather have that then to be obese and miserable!
