Hello Everyone, I am a 27 year old young lady who has struggled with weight all of my life. I can not remember a time that I wasn't "the fat kid". Growing up with a brother and tons of cousins much smaller than me made me feel so insecure about myself. I have been on every diet you can name. I have had some success but never could keep it off. Finally, in 2007, I decided to try and get gastric bypass. I went through my six months of dieting only to find out when it was time to summit my weight loss to my insurance company, that my doctor hadn't written any thing down in my chart about my weight loss. After finally arguing with him back and forth for months, and I mean months, I thought I was finally ready to summit everything to my insurance company. WRONG!!! The company I worked for was bought by another company and we had to re-enroll in different insurance and blah, blah, blah. Then, the surgeon that was supposed to do my surgery decided to move to another state. There I was, new insurance, a shady doctor, and a surgeon who skipped town. When I thought there was no hope, I came across Dr. Virginia Weaver. I spoke to her staff over the phone, they got all of my paperwork faxed to them and I was approved for surgery within a week. It has been over two years since I first started this journey. With all of the ups and downs along the way, my weight has been up and down. I know now that this is the best decision for me. I am weighing now more than I did when I first started this journey. I know that things happen for a reason and that you should never give up. My surgery date is June 9th and I can't wait. To anybody out there that has had doors shut in your face, NEVER GIVE UP, it will happen for you. I am a prime example!!!!
