My name is Sally Rai . I am 31 years old soon to be 32 on September 25th. I have now decided to give myself the best birthday present ever. I have been struggeling with my weight for many years. Most of the weight gain started after I gave birth to my oldest son who is now 14. I am a self pay patient & thats why Im choosing to go to Mexico for my lab-band . Everything is happening so fast. I've been wanting to do this for about 2 years now but never really had all the $$$ for it & here I am. My date is set for Saturday 20th of August. Tickets are booked & I will be starting this journey tomarrow. My mom also traveling with me during this much needed time of support. More posts latter in the near future. Current weight 243 BMI 40 +
9/6/05 2-weeks post-op an -12 lbs Not to bad. Im now on soft foods feeling so much better. Any pain that I had is now gone. My original surgery date was set for Saturady the 20th of August but once in Monterrey I changed Doctors mid-stream & decided to go with Dr.Rumbaut all in the same day. I really knew before ever leaving the United States that Dr. Rumbaut was the better choice but wanted to have surgery so bad that everything happened so fast. After getting into Mexico & not liking what type of place I was to have my Surgery in I decided to stright over to San Jose Hospital & see for myself what kind of hospital/conditions Dr, Rumbaut worked out off. The rest is history. I can honestly say that the care I recieved from Dr.Rumbaut & his staff was truley better than any medical care I have ever seen in the States. More posts latter.
9/19/05 4-weeks post-op today & down -15lbs. I wish it were more but the way I look at it is 14lbs gone forever. I'm feeling so much better . Now eating normal foods but in small amounts.I've now started my own web-page so future updates/pictures etc... will be posted there also . Just use the link above.
10/11/05 Weight loss has started to slow down for me so have have decided to get my first fill. I will be leaving for Monterrey tomarrow. Getting my fill on the 13th comming right back home I wish I could stay a bit longer but with a husband & 4 kids. Im much needed back home. Hope this fill will be good one.
10/15/05 Im back the fill went great. It was done under floro. He hit the spot on the 1st try. Dr.Rumbaut said this fill should last a while he put in 2cc in my 4cc band although some call it a 5cc band. Whatever its the smaller one that all I know & as long as it works that all I really care about.
10/28/05 I havent be on the web due to hurricane Wilma. We really were effected this time. We are without power & they say it will be a while before we get it back. I think I know what PB is really all about now . Some days I am able to eat & other days almost everything I try comes back up. The good thing is that it dosent burn or anything. I do know that what Ive been eating hasent been the greatest. Nothing to do & no power so I have been doing some picking that normally I never do. Never the less still much less food than before I ever had the band.
11/10/05 We got the power back this week Monday & the kids are back in school. Life starting to get back to normal . Its been a rough 2 weeks. I got on the scale & still no change. Im not to happy about that. Its been almost 4 weeks since the fill & no change. It could be water weight or even the stress. Not really sure but Im now going to work my A.. off to get that scale moving. I dont think the fill is loose because food sometimes still has a hard time going down but liquids are no problem at all. Oh & did have a NSV victory this week.I put on a pair of jeans that dident fit before the fill & they fit now. Thats when I decided to get on the scale to only fing out that I only lost inches & not pounds. 3 month post-op comming up next weekend so I will get on the scale again then.
11/21/05 Today I had a scale victory for the 1st time in a while I will be 3 months post-op tomarrow. & Im down another -6lbs since my first fill. Ive had alot of PB-ing but that has seemed to stop or I should say stop happening so often. Im exactly where I need to be. As they say a bandster should expect to loose at about -2 lbs per week even though it dident reflect on the scale for quite some time. So for those of you out there that think its just not working.Just hold on go with the flow & you to will see it on the scale sooner or latter. I'm just glad to be to be -24lb in 3 months time. Thats about a average of -8lbs per month.
12/22/05 Well its been 4 months already & I am happy to say Im down -33lbs. 15 more until I reach my 1st goal. I was about to get 2nd fill about a week ago or so but ended up with a bad block that lasted until the next afternoon. So much for that fill appointment. Never the less Im still loosing .

1/10/05 Today I went for my 2nd fill. What a day its been. I set out to have my fill through FILL Center USA. Where a trained nurse was to do the fill but with no floro. I figured no big deal since it was so quick when Rumbaut did the 1st fill. Anyway on my way to delray which was a straight run I ended up getting off at the wrong exit about 30min to soon & all on a rainy day. When I finally got there all seemed ok until the fill part. OMG She was a very nice lady & all but I was poked about a million times. She was on the port but not in the right spot but at the time I dident know that. For at least 15min she tried and it did hurt. No luck !!! At that time she started to make me think that I had a leaking port because there was no return .Why??? It felt like she was in the spot.I was getting so upset a I had just givin them my card # for 299.00 for the 1st inital visit & they couldent help me. She was so nice .She decided to call a Dr. here that she had done some training with to see if he could do the fill under floro. The Dr. that she called ended up being the Bariatric doctor in the city where I live. Cant get better than that. He said for me to meet him at the local hospital & that he would do my fill with floro. that day. So I went back home & to the hospital. I had the fill with the floro. No leaking port I was fine & the doctor ended up putting 1.4cc more in the band leaving me with a total of 3.4 now. He also said that I can use him for any future fills that I may need. What I great doctor!!! I have been very blessed. The whole thing was that Dr.Rumbaut places the port
very deep which is a good thing but makes fills much harder to do. For the future I will only have fills done with floro. with the doctor here close to my home or fly back to Mexico & have my surgeon Dr.Rumbaut do my fills.

Todays is 6 months to the day that I was banded. I cant say that I havent had my ups & downs but for the most part it has been kinda easy for me. As of today I have lost 41 lbs. Im not quite sure that it where I wanted to be but that it where Im at & Im ok with it. Body wise I dont see much of a change myself but I have dropped from a size 18/20 pre-band to a size 14/16 now. Still a ways to go but it does feel great knowing that with time I will reach goal. Not ever having to worry about it all comming back. As it has so many times before. I owe it all to my band & the Best Surgeon out there for changing my life forever. Dr. Rumbaut
3/30/06 Today I had my 1st SV.
Now weighing in at 197 lbs. Banded just over 7 months now & I am down -46 lbs. I can hardly believe that its only another 67 lbs until I reach goal. Only 2 lbs to go to reach my 1st mini goal of 195 lbs.
4/18/06 Mini Goal reached today!!!!!! I cant believe it myself but that scale says Im now at 195 lbs Yea!!! This was a major SV for me. Looking foward to what the future will bring. I love my band. *****Thank you Dr.Rumbaut*****
5/24/06 Im now down -51 in 9 months I cant believe how much time flew by. Still getting by on my second fill with lots of restriction at times. I would love a reason to go back to MX & see my surgeon but I do have a good fill doctor right here at home. Besides I may not even need another fill. Who knows. Only time will tell. Only 3 more months to go until I reach my ***Bandiversary*** 90 days & counting.
6/25/06 Weight loss has been at a stand still for me. I just may need another fill. I was trying to get by without one but I think I may need the extra help. Although I still am restricted at times.I'm now down -52 lbs in all & its been 10 months. So I'm on the slow loosing side but still in the 1 to 2 pound per week range. I won't give up. I'm just going to work extra hard to get to goal. The next mini goal that I have set for my self is 175 . Thats only 16 pounds away. Lets just see how long it will take ???
7/12/06 I am now down -54lbs. & 1/2 way to my Goal!!! The weight loss has been slower then I expected but Its almost been a year & the scale keeps on moving downward. I have managed to keep a slow but steady weight loss without any major weight gain over the pass 11 months. I know this would have never happened had it not been for my band. I have had some ups & downs but for the most part it been easy for me & I am not one to follow all the bandster rules all of the time. Im still getting by on my 2nd fill with a 3 fill sceduled for July 26. I will update then.
Me & my family just came back from Disney World & I have to say If it was prior to the Gastric Banding. I would have never been able to walk as much as I did. The band has truly changed my like forever !!! " Banded & Luvin It " ..............................
7/22/06 Yesterday I weighed in at 187lbs. I cant believe Ive come this far. Thats a total of 56 pounds lost. With one more month before I hit my 1 Year Bandiversary !!!
7/26/06 Today I saw Dr.Wizman once again for my 3rd fill since being banded. All went very well as I did not have this fill under floro. like in the past. One stick with a few pokes & he was on the port. It seams that none my fluid was lost . Today I had a smaller fill .5 cc was added to the band so I am now at 3.9cc total. I was told to listen to what my body tells me as far as eating goes. I have a 4 cc band but the doctor said it can hold up to 5 or 6 cc in fluid. Hopefully I wont need anymore fills in the future but only time will tell & only 52lbs from goal.
8/15/06 Its been 3 weeks since my fill & Im loosing at a rate of
2 lbs per week. This is so hard to believe I see the numbers but cant believe that they are mine. What a diffrence this has made in my life. Next week is my Bandiversary !!! Yea This past year just flew by. Hopefully I will reach the 170's by then . Current weight as of this morning 181lbs.
8/22/06 Well Today is the big day. Its been one year that Ive been banded. It seems like such a short time ago that this all happened. Im now 181lbs I wish the weight loss would have been greater but I havent given up much of anything & havent even started a exercise program yet. I was hoping for sure that by this week I would drop into the 170's range. Everyone learns with time that sum weeks are just better than others & that over time The Weight Will Come Off !!! It may not happen right when you want it to. As long as the scale keeps on moving downward thats all that matters. Today is also my sons 13th Birthday. I wasent here for him last year as I was in Mexico having this life changing surgery. I wish I would have been home for him but I wouldnt change anything for the world. I am now 46lbs from goal & I know that with my band I will get there. Its only a matter of time..............
9/6/06 I'm feeling pritty great about my weigh-in this morning. Ive just dropped below the 180 mark. Now weighing in at 178lbs. What a diffrence just over one year has made in my life. Yes I still feel fat some what but numbers don't lie. Only 43 more pounds until I reach my untimate goal of 135. I can't wait for that day to come. Ive started working out now. Trying to help with some of the loose skin. I know I will need a TT & probably other stuff too. Im now looking into plastic surgeons here & outside the US. Just trying to get some ideas so when I reach that point I will know what Im doing.
9/22/06 Today makes 13 months banded to the day. I have lost just under 70lbs Which I know I will pass by some time in October. Im lovin what the band has done for me so far. I have had some consults with doctors for TT & BA .I might add that it feels really good !!!! for a US doctor not to think I am too heavy to have that type of surgery. Im shooting for some time around 1/07 for the next faze in my life. More post to come in the future.

4/18/07 Its been a real long time since I last posted to my profile. On Nov. 3rd 2006 . I had my full TT & BA/BL What a diffrence it has made in my life. Its so hard to believe that in 4 months I will be 2 years post-op. I have lost about 90lbs with the band & 100lbs from my all time high of 255. I cant even remember weighing that much but I guess that a good thing. My current weight is steady at 158 for a few months now. I may need a fill but still have good restriction most days . So I dont think I really want to do that right now. I have only had 3 fills in total to date. Besides if you add in the addtional weight from my implants -3 lbs. at least ......then Im really only 20lbs away from my ultimate goal of 135.
11/03/2008 Its been forever & a day since I up-dated..... Banded 3yrs +++ & no regrets. Total of 3 fills . Last fill in July 06' Current Weight 145lbs. So far I have had extended TT with BA/BL.. Hoping to have LBL & or thigh lift in the near future
