WOW...
Apr 19, 2010
So I've been a little bummed the past few weeks as I have not lost a single pound (my first stall)
Well, I went shopping with my mom this past weekend because I needed new clothes (due to the fact that all of my current ones fall off of me)
I started out at 290 lbs and a size 26....as of saturday I am now a size 16! (and weigh 210).
I sooo look forward to weighing in the 100's soon!

3 weeks postop!
Dec 16, 2009
So as of yesterday, i am officially 3 weeks postop! (YAY!!)
I've had a few road bumps in the way (ie: getting readmitted to the hospital due to dehydration and no G.I. mobility)
Now, I am doing fabulously! I've actually been able to eat real food! Today I had 2 tbsp cheerios and 1/4 c skim milk! As silly as it might sound, being able to eat something as plain as Cheerios makes me feel a bit more human. You can only eat broth and popsicles for so long lol
I've also been eating tomato soup, l.f. crackers, baked potato with l.f. sour cream, l.f. turkey and l.f. cheese.
I just want to praise God for blessing myself and everyone else on obesityhelp.com with success! This is only the beginning!
I hope everyone is doing well and update me with how you are doing! Good or bad, we ALL will get through this successfully!

Reflection...
Nov 10, 2009
I've come to find that there are some people that just do not understand why we make this huge decision to undergo surgery. Well, I've come up with a list for myself as to why I desperately need this surgery.
-My hypothyroidism gets worse with time *have been diagnosed since I was 17* hair falls out, exhausted, cold a lot
-Have been showing signs of impaired glucose tolerance...but not quite diabetic.. yet
-Triglycerides, HDL, LDL are terrible!
-PCOS sucks...acne....random dark hair growth all over body...not too fun...oh yeah and I can't get a period unless I'm on the pill.
-Depression sucks...I would rather be alone and wallow in my own icky feelings than join society due to my physical girth.
-I hate that the seat belt is too tight across my belly.
-Sitting down for longer than an hour sucks...parts of my body start to ache and go numb *and no not my butt*
-Must sleep with a few pillows to elevate my head due to hiatal hernia...have a hard time breathing lying down
-Get exhausted from work waaay too easily
-Out of breath going up one flight of stairs
and finally
-I'M READY TO HAVE A LIFE...I'M TIRED OF SETTLING...I'M WORTH THIS AND MORE !!!!

Preadmission stuff done
Nov 10, 2009
This morning I arrived at the hospital for my pre-admission tests around 8-ish. Let's see....first I had to give a urine sample *which was hard after being NPO after midnight* but thank God I still had some in me lol
Then I had ELEVEN vials of blood taken *yes...eleven*and a nasal swab. BTW the girl that took my blood did fabulously! Not even a bruise on my hand!
Next I had an EKG, which was all happy and normal. I then had a chest x-ray.
Last but not least, I saw the pre-admission nurse. We talked about my medical history, the many medicines I take and what to expect the morning of surgery. I also signed a few papers for emergency contact info etc.
I must say that God truly blessed me with some awesome Christian 'kindred spirits' to talk with today at the hospital. I just love how God puts people in your path that share the same love and awe for Him.
Surgery Countdown: 2 WEEKS!!

Paperwork and such
Oct 30, 2009
So today I had a meeting with a lady in the human resources department where I work. I filled out all of the necessary paperwork for FMLA and to make sure I will be utilizing my MML and PTO that I've been saving for the pat 5 years. *Thank god for that*
I then met with my boss to let her know about my upcoming surgery in 3 weeks and 3 days. I was pleasantly surprised that she was very suppportive *an answered prayer for sure!*
I find myself having a hard time getting to sleep due to the sheer excitement of having surgery in less than a month!
I'm thankful that my wonderful mom will be on vacation during the time of the surgery. She has gracously offered to help me before, during and after the surgery.
Well, thats enough for tonight. I will update as I get more information.
