Had my psych eval today. Not what I was expecting. Talked alot about my current eating habits, lifestyle, etc.  How unrealistic to think I can eat this way after surgery or even to think you can just stop after surgery. He said I need to change now! Get into a healthier lifestyle so I'll have a better chance of succeeding after WLS. You will already have been eating this way for two months, plus it will put you in better health for the surgery itself and lower your risks. Makes sense. THE NEW ME STARTS TODAY!!!!!

2/2/07. With this being my first posting I probably should summarize what I've done so far. Having been overweight all my life and with more and more health problems developing as I age (52 now) I finally broached the subject with my PCP in Jan 2006. He thought it was something I should look into and gave me a surgeons name, Dr. Joseph Caruana. I did his on-line seminar and started reading as much as possible on the subject of WLS. I spoke to anyone who I found out had WLS and one referred me to OH. In Sept of 2006 I went to one of DR Caruana's informational seminars. At my annual exam in Jan of this year we discussed it again and "started the ball rolling". My PCP gave me the ins referral and a letter to Dr C recommending me as a candidate. Today 2-2-07, I made the appt for my consult and one for my psych eval. I'm still flip flopping between open and Lap. RNY.Looks like I'll be doing alot more research and soul searching between now my consult on 3/27.
