Bayshore Hospital

"The foot of the hospital bed did not work, and I was stuck with this bed longer than I liked (around 24 hours), but I finally got someone to change it out. It seemed silly that it took them so long to exchange the bed, when they had so many empty ones. No one told me what to do about my meds, and I was concerned because my blood pressure was going up my second day, so I went ahead and took the meds. A few hours later I threw up, and I asked the nurse to tell the doctor I threw up, but I don't think she ever did. It was the weekend, and they wanted everyone out of the hospital. My mother was with me and made my stay much more comfortable. What puzzled me was, in the papers my surgeon gave me, I was told that I would be in the hospital 3-4 days after surgery, and I was released on the 2nd day. But now, all is good, and I'm glad it's over. The nurses were nice."

Michael Storey

"My first impression of Dr. Storey was: Here is a man on a mission. He is on a mission to help people. My first contact with Dr. Storey was at a seminar he was giving at Bayshore, the hospital where I will be having wls. He made sure everyone understood the risks, and subsequent food restrictions post-surgery. He requires all surgical patients to attend this seminar, which he gives monthly. His requirements for all patients are to have a referral from a PCP, screening by a psychiatrist for depression, and to meet with his dietician. You must be 100 pounds overweight and provide a history of diets tried and pounds lost. His office staff is very friendly. Dr. Storey does emphasize aftercare. He has started a support group that meets monthly. At the seminar I went to in November, he said that he was still going to all of the support group meetings, but that he was looking for someone else to head the meetings. He said that he will still come to some of the meetings, but not all, once he finds someone. I haven't seen anything negative to say about Dr. Storey. "
