I'm Baaaack!!!!

Feb 24, 2009

I MADE IT!   My surgery went great, no complications other than my blood pressure being through the roof.  I stayed in the hospital overnight and was so drugged up on pain meds I made the nurses nervous.  I wanted to get up and walk the halls and wash-up a few hours after surgery.....then they took the pain meds away and the pain hit me like a brick wall!  I had absolutely no appetite (which I was worried about) and according to my mother I looked grey...whatever that means.

I was lovingly cared for at my mom & dad's house until I couldn't take it anymore, I'm so independent that having somebody wait on my every need was just too much!  I still loved it though :)

According to my scale I've lost 25 pound in just two weeks and then the weight loss has hit a stall point....which I've heard is normal.  Tomorrow I'm going for my two week follow up with my surgeon and I'm really a bit nervous....I don't know what his expectations are for my weight loss.  Is 25lbs in two weeks normal?  Should I have lost more than that?  I've been doing the absolute best I can as far as excersize is concerned, I'm still feeling really weak and dizzy and working out takes alot out of me, but I'm trying.  The protein shakes are horrible, but I'm committed to getting them down.  Drinking broth is the only thing that I've enjoyed, well actually the Sugar Free Lime Jello is pretty good too.  I've found that anything too sweet smelling makes me sick to my stomach....weird but true.  I guess that's a good thing :)  Lime Jello isn't too sweet smelling and it isn't too sweet tasting.

I've already had one instance of "Dumping Syndrome"....STAY AWAY FROM GAS-X dissolving strips!!!!!  I was three days post op and had really bad bloating and gas.  The surgeon advised me to try gas-x.....my sister went to the drug store and got the gas-x strips instead of the gas-x pill.  Maybe 10-15mins later, I was doubled over and sweating and then eventually vomiting....but of course there was nothing in my poor little "brand new" stomach for me to vomit, so it just ended up being painful dry-heaves.....so again stay away from Gas-X dissolving strips, it is NOT SUGAR FREE!!!

Any hoo, I'll blog more after my follow up appointment!
