2 weeks out - and 30lbs down
Jan 09, 2012
Post Surgery - DAY 12: So this weight loss is crazy....I'm currently down 30 lbs from my pre surgery, pre liquid diet weight. I lost 7 lbs prior to surgery and now have lost another 23 lbs. CRAZY! My recovery is going steady although my stamina is down. Walking up a flight of stairs or simple house cleaning tasks take my breath away (literally). I continue to feel fine and am walking Wellington - my old english sheep dog - for about 15 minutes a day. Each day I try to add "1 more house" to our walk to stretch myself but also not to push too hard. Weirdly, I still feel super fat... so I think this fat girl in my head will be my struggle. I also have been unable to stomach protein shakes since surgery. It's just too much liquid....so I've cheated on my liquid diet by adding lean proteins (chicken & turkey) and that seems to be working fine. It feels a bit premature to be eating those proteins but otherwise I just don't eat anything. I'm stull struggling with water - And I LOVE Water - due to me not being able to tolerated liquids. Evening routine is try to get 16 oz down before bed. Cheers! More to come after my 2 week check up with Dr. Voellinger on Wednesday.

5 days post op

Happy new year! I'm excited about starting 2012 successfully recovering from surgery (RNY). I have been very fortunate as my surgery was covered by insurance -after 12 months of a pre surgery program and I have had no complications. Pian meds were stopped 6 hours post surgery. There's some stinging but it just feels like a REALLY bad paper cut. I've lost 24 lbs and counting....

First post...EVER! 14 days and counting to surgery
Dec 14, 2011
This is my first post - although I have been coming to this site for about 2 years.....
I'm a 39 year old women who has always been the "big girl" in the family - not to say my 153lbs in high school were big. Having a very skinny sister - I was always called the chubby one. Damage done...so here I am years later still managing the fat girl.
The GOOD NEWS
Finally after 12 months of pre-op back and forth - I have a surgery date. It's two weeks out!. I started my 2 week pre-op diet today of liquids only - which has made the date more realistic for me.
I'm very nervous - yet excited - about my RNY procedure that is scheduled for 12/28. Reading the before and afters on Obesity.com inspire me to believe that I derserve the best in life and can make this journey too!
