Update... 11/12/2009

Nov 12, 2009

As of today, I have lost a total of 143 pounds since my journey began over two years ago.  I have been blessed with no complications due to the surgery and I am having a wonderful time shopping for myself for a change.  I can remember the years before surgery that I would not shop for any clothes except for the things that I really needed because everything was so big!  I am 5'3" and wore a size 22-24 and now I am wearing small in tops/jackets, 2/4 in pants/skirts and dresses.  It is amazing...I enjoy wearing jewelry and wearing makeup again.  It took a while for my mind to catch up with my head, but I feel like I can dress and look like a normal person again.  I haven't been this small since I was a teenager.  I will turn 53 next month.  It is really strange to me that I am about the same size of my three daughters.  They have always been very slender and it took me a long time (with them reminding me) that we can wear the same size.  That is TOTALLY unreal for me.

I am so thankful that I was able to have the surgery.  It not only saved my life, but it helped give me a new outlook on life as well.  If someone were to ask me, 'do you have any regrets?'  I would definitely say "NO!"

If you are out there and struggling, hang in there and stick with the program.  It will come off eventually.  My losses were slow in the beginning, but I stayed with the program and the weight continued to come off, even after the honeymoon period.

I don't have any plans for more weight loss...just maintaining...I, like the rest of you, still have the horror of weight gain so it it is still 'one day at a time' for me...

Best wishes to you all!

Finally met goal! 22 months out!

Dec 08, 2008

I've lost a total of 135 lbs. since my journey started.  My beginning weight was 265 and I am down to 130.  I've lost a total of 100 inches as well.  This surgery has been a wonderful thing for me.  I am enjoying buying clothes again and feeling like a look like a "normal" person.  I am also looking forward to getting my new drivers' license renewed this month.  I can finally put my correct weight on it for a change!

16 Month Surgiversary - June 27, 2008

Jun 27, 2008

Hello!  I haven't posted in a while, but I have been doing well.  I had a few health setbacks (none surgery related), but I am trying to get those resolved with the help of my doctors.

My weight has been coming off pretty steady - not fast - but steady.  I have lost 123 lbs. over the past 16 months and I am VERY pleased about that.  I am wearing size 6 in pants - 8 in dresses - and small to medium in tops.  This is as small as I can ever remember being.  I think these are the sizes I wore when I was a toddler...LOL

I am very thankful for this surgery and what it has meant for my health and well-being.  I feel very fortunate that the Lord has kept His hand on me and I have not had any post-surgery complications thus far.  I feel like I will be feeling wonderful again once I can get a few of my other "ailments" under control.

Thanks for all the encouragement and postings I have read of the past two years.

May the Lord continue to bless you as well along your journey.

The "wows" keep coming! October 12, 2007

Oct 12, 2007

I am so excited today.  I am 8 months out and have lost a total of 94 lbs.  I have also lost a total of 68 inches.  I've gone from a size 22/24 down to a size 14.  I was able to purchase zip-up jeans yesterday in a 14.  These are the first pant I have worn since surgery that have not been "pull-ups." LOL

This journey has been awesome and I would never have dreamed this time last year that I would be where I am today.  My quality of life is greatly improved, I am off the c-pap machine and I do not snore any longer.  I have more energy and I am finally beginning to feel good about myself once again.  My husband and daughters have been very supportive and I know I could not have done as well without that support.

I have been blessed thus far without any major complications to which I am so thankful.  As I continue this new way of life, I am finding other things to occupy my mind other than eating and feeling sorry for myself.

I am also thankful for this board.  It has been so helpful to me and full of great information.

I am currently 6 months post op and have lost a total of 79 lbs. since my highest weight.  I weigh 186 and have lost a total of 62 inches.  I am very pleased with the loss and have come down 5 sizes in clothes.  This surgery has been a blessing for me and I am so thankful I was able to have it done.

Finally in Onederland!!!

I am so excited...I've finally made it to "Onederland."  It has taken me four months, but it is worth it!

14 Weeks Out

May 24, 2007

I am 14 weeks out and have lost 42 lbs.  I've gone down from a size 24 to a size 18.  I was a little worried about my loss being so slow, but I have just found out that having cortizone injections can slow your loss or even make you gain.  I had a couple of injections in my hips about six weeks ago and that is probably a contributing factor in the results.  I am so thankful the scales are finally moving again.

8 weeks out....

Apr 13, 2007

I am 8 weeks out from surgery and have lost 32 lbs. which brings my total to 47 lbs. since June 1, 2006.  I have also lost 27 inches.  I am feeling great, exercising and tolerating most everything I am permitted to eat at this time.  My first "wow" moment came when I pulled down boxes of old clothes from the attic and was able to wear them once again...I held on to them thinking that maybe one day I would wear them again....before surgery, no way...but now...WOW!!!  I am finding that I am more interested in clothing than I have been in a while.  People are beginning to notice a difference in my appearance and my family is very proud of me.  I am proud of ME as well.

I'm Home...

Feb 17, 2007

I am home and feeling great.  My surgery went beautifully.  The only thing that bothered me was the headaches from caffeine withdrawal.  Take my advice, if you drink a lot of caffeine try to stop before surgery so you won't be bothered with that.  The pain from the surgery is very minimal.  I have not had to take a lot of pain meds at all.  I had envisioned that I would be in terrific pain, but that simply isn't my case.  Dr. Stahl did a wonderful job.  I appreciate all the support I received from the Obesity Help members.

Thanks for everything,
Connie

Tomorrow's the Day!!!!!

Feb 14, 2007

Well, today I start my clear liquids then on to the Magnesium Citrate...Doesn't that sound wonderful...I did get the Cherry flavor to keep the Valentine theme going...I am so excited about my surgery tomorrow.  I am so close to starting my new life weight loss and good health.  I look forward to doing so many of the things I cannot do now.  People have asked me if I am nervous but my reply is, "Not a bit."  I have peace about this situation and I know my life is in the Lord's hands.

See ya on the losing side,
Connie
