Getting Started...

Hello All,
Today I started my journey towards WLS. I was really really nervous about taking to my PCP. She is a great women but very skinny and some people just dont understand what its like. But, I just came right out and asked her and told her how this has been a struggle my whole life and what my options would be for medical weight loss. And SHE SAID TO ME have you ever thought about weight loss surgery? I couldn't stop smiling. She said its my best choice being so young (21) it would be in my best interest to lose a lot of weight and keep it off. She said if I don't I will definitely start getting diseases related to the weight such as diabetes, hypertension, blah blah...what I have heard my whole life. So she gave me the name of Boston Medical Center Weight Loss Clinic where she sent a couple of other patients. I am so excited!
So I did more and more research last night reading everything I possibly could. And this morning I called Dr. Hess's office only to get the "You need a referral". Blahhh my doctor said I was all set isn't that enough?! So I called my PCP and she is sending it over right away.
My only concern is still being in school. I hope their office is accommadating because I can only have surgery at certain times of the year either summer or winter, when I have extended time off.
But anyways. I will try and keep everyone up to date!! Thanks for all the information, this website is so great.
