My story starts off as a chunky child. I was always big. Teased all through school. I lost weight when I was around 19 or so until I had my first child. I gained 60lbs with the first baby. Lost some but not all. Then I gained another 50lbs with my second baby. Got married to an alcoholic. Kept the weight on throughout my marriage. Started losing the weight by excercise and eating healthy but then I ended up with Meningitis. I was very sick from it for a long time. I ended up hurting my back at some point and had to stop working out. I went into a deep depression and the weight just started packing on. Until I was almost 250lbs. I tried dieting. I tried to do as much exercising as I could but my back problems made it pretty much impossible to burn any fat. And boy did I have plenty of that. I kept trying though. I tried the Atkins diet, which landed me in the ER. I tried the cabbage soup diet and the only thing that did for me was caused me to smell really bad. And like everyone else I tried many other things with no success. After 3-4 yrs of this madness I finally decided to opt for surgery. It was a very difficult decision and it was a very emotional decision. I had to make the choice between the possibility of losing my life or being overweight and probably losing my life to heart disease or some other obesity related disease. It was very hard saying good bye to my children then night before surgery. I cried myself to sleep. The next morning I went to the hospital and cried more. Dr D'Augustine took the time to comfort me and reassure me. When I woke up I thought they hadn't done the surgery. It didn't seem like I could have possibly been out that long. But they had and everything went smoothly. The only problem I had was I had to stop taking the blood thinner because it was making blood pool in my pouch. I ended up vomiting the blood up and after that it was smooth sailing. I was in the hospital 4 days. Went home and was working 2 weeks later. I felt fantasic. I followed my doctors orders, ate what I was suppose to eat, took my vitamins and I walked alot. After a few months I joined a gym and was using the treadmill and lifting some light weights. After my first year I had lost 98lbs. I have pretty much been stuck at the weight. Well I did gain about 7 lbs back over the holidays but I have since taken that off with the help of the South Beach Diet. I am now at the point that I need to really step it up with excercise. Unfortunetly with two jobs, a teenager and a home to care for its hard to squeeze in the time to excercise. But I am determined to take off this last 20lbs and I feel confident that I will get it off. After that, my next project will be PS. So there you have it. That is my story. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good luck on your journey.
