Hello all,

Been way too busy.  Did take a couple trips though.  Have lost about 42 pounds.  I guess I am going slower than most but I am ok with that.  I feel better, clothes are gettin' baggy. Taking vitamins everyday to help off set when my intake is not balanced.  I have been having heartburn sometimes and when I lay in bed but have found an acid reducer at costco that has taken away the night time problems.  I don't like taking pills.  Want to get connected back with the support group.  Heard about one on the 3rd Wednesday at PC Mkt.  I'll be checkin that one out.
I still love my band and am so glad I have it to stop me from eating way too much!  Love ya B

Long time....doing well and really losing now since my last fill.  I go to a really great naturopath here in Eugene, Kelly Fitzpatrick, and she puts the needle into the port on the first try.  $190 first fill, $170 second.
I now have 7.7 cc's of sterile saline in my 9 cc band.  It is tight now.  I went to chinese food with friends last night and I ordered a side of pot stickers and could only eat one....my friends took the rest home.  My mind would like to eat 10 pieces of that deep fried Mar Far Chicken but it just would not fit.  But while my mind desires to gorge - my stomach is not really hungry or ever really having any hunger pangs.  Then after I got home I was glad I did not eat any of it, it was just soaked with grease.
I heard today Dr. Colbert say that drinking Pomagranite Juice daily, 1.7 ounces, decreases the plaque in your veins by 32% and after 2 years your blood is flowing 45% easier!  Gotta get some of that!  I'll put it in my fridge next to my liquid vitamins that I get at Costco.  It's pretty easy to take a chug of vitamins every morning as it sits right next to my morning coffee creamer!
During Christmas and January I was washing food through my band with water = breaking the bandster rules.  But now that I have had my band tightened I cannot do that.  Which is exactly what I needed....to be forced to eat less.  I can only take a couple of sips of water and wait for that to go down before I drink more.  I do need to drink more water.  I used to drink a glass full quickly but now I just have to force myself to have a glass of water around me continually to get the amount I need.
My naturopath has insisted upon vitamin B and I take a liquid form that I get at Wal-Mart for around $5.  It has a dropper so you can just put it under your tongue.  I keep a couple of bottles around the house and just take it when I see it, it helps with energy.  I have found that steamed broccoli goes down well.
Every morning is started with a protein shake.  I add water, ice cubes, protein powder, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (heard someone say you burn hotter with cinnamon!), scoop of ground flax seed (got a container of it from Costco with a scoop), 1/2 teaspoon of powdered MSM and 1/2 teaspoon of glutamine (joints and muscles), sometimes I pour a little cod liver oil but flax seeds do same thing, 1 teaspoon of Soy Lecithin granules (for liver).  It's pretty good...I love blueberries.
I am very happy that I got my band.  I wish everyone with a weight problem could get one....at least the majority of obese people that have that battle of the mind and their will power is just not enough.

I'm Back! I feel great. Things are good. 11-20-07

Mexico was a great experience.  The hospital was upscale and received more attention than I think I would have here!  I did not have any after surgery pain and this is answered prayer.  I am on my way!  15 pounds off since my 2 week pre-op diet.  Today is te 7th day since my surgery.  Incisions look good and no need for bandaids.  I am so glad I rearranged my living room before I left.  It makes me feel like I have a stylin' pad.  Amazing how 1 yogurt makes me feel stuffed.  I must be careful to assure that I get all my protein and nutrition.  I had 600 calories day before yesterday and about 800 yesterday.  When I get to solid foods I think I will be around 1000-1200 per day.  I have found the best soup at Costco, Pacific Foods organic Red Pepper Tomato soup.  It comes in a box of 6 cartons of 1 quart each.  Just nuke in a cup for 2 minutes.....yummy.  It's kinds like a bisque but not.  110 calories.  Delicious!  Filling. Check out the pictures from the Hospital Angeles.  Very nice hospital and I also took pictures of the band.

November 8, 2007 Is my Liver Shrinking?

Nov 08, 2007

6 days until surgery!!  Whooohoooo!  I am happy about this......I just can'twait til this time next year.
Hey, this liver shrinking diet is easy!  8 days and have lost 12 pounds.  But I wonder what my cholesterol and triglycerides look like.......
It is very easy now, just don't eat more than 40-50 grams of carbs and as much of anything else I desire..with in reason.   I'm hungry, I think I'll make a cheese omlette with tomatoe slices!
Trying to get my paper work done, my house cleaned for the dog sitter, a will written (just incase!) and I have the Suzie Orman PC software for that, all the laundry done, bills paid, suitcase packed, etc.  WIth all of that going on I am also re-arranging my living room...what is that about...nesting maybe...nervous outlet....task avoidance??????

I am finding it easy to avoid bread but hard to find different proteins and other dishes.  I just got back from a road trip and all the advertised food on the trip was full of carbs.....Pies, burritos, cookies, bisciuts and gravy...come on....I ended up at a mexican restuarant and sharing a meal with my dad.  He ate the beans, rice, avacado, chips, steak and I had a couple pieces of the steak with lime juice on it.
I am not a former cook and have not opened very many cookbooks....looks like I am going to have to start....but first I will make alot of Michelle's recipes from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com.  So far after 5 days of this liver shrinking diet I have lost 6 lbs.  This is good.

My first day of the pre-op Liver Shrinking Diet! 11/1/07

Nov 01, 2007

Good Bye Bread, Good Bye Pizza, Good riddins old fat bod!
Bread has been a friend of mine, just clinging to me to the tune of an extra 120 lbs!! Starting today, excercise is going to be my friend. Then I suppose I will become a better friend to myself.
I have to stay under 40-50 carbs a day for 2 weeks seems to really be the only rule. The diet says, no limit on anything else, just the carbs. It is basically the Atkins diet because they want my liver to go into Ketosis.....basically make it stronger, smaller, less fatty since it is in the way of the stomach.
I am very excited about my future. More energy, new clothes, and happier I'm sure.
Starting off my day with a cup of coffee with 1/2 cup of soy milk which is 5 carbs. Maybe I'll scramble egg whites with something else low carb. Then search for my carb book!
Go to the store and get some goodies for my diet.
