My name is Martha and I am 46 years old. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a wife and a mother of 2. Son is 25 and daughter is 18. I am married to a very supporting husband. I come from a family of Diabetics and Heart Problems. Not to leave out Hypertension. So as You can see I did this for Health reasons.. Not that in the proses I would look much better because then I would be lieing.. lol... I lost my mother in April 2007 she was my Best Friend.. She also had diabeties and as a hispanic oh, did I forget to mention that I am hispanic not because of any race issues it's just that facts state that as a Hispanic I am more greater to develope diabeties.. She lost both her legs within two years and went into a very bad depression and gave up.. I was diagnosted with diabeties after my mother passed away.. So knowing what I just experienced by losing my Mom I knew that i had to take good or should I say great care.. I've just became a grandma in 2008 and 2009. I have two handsome grandsons who are my world.. I wanted to be able to do so many things with the boys.. I wanted my health to be dreat so I can enjoy my life. My Mom was an amazing women. Had so much to offer the World Outgoing and Full of Love. She died at 59.. Too young for me so I knew what I had to do. So I decided to have weight loss surgery. I had reached all the way up to 350lbs by 2005 that was my heaviest.. I then was told I had diabeties and started to take care of myself and started eating better. I won't say great because a couple of times I gave into temptation.. ok many times there I said it. I lost weight and came down to 288lbs that is what I weighted when I first saw DR. Reyes.. And the date was set for August 16,2010.. I was so nervous. I kept changing my mind yes no yes no. I started my visits with the Dietician and for the next 6 months I learned to eat and went down to 277lbs. After a month and three weeks I am down to 250lbs. I feel great. No more Inselin ... I have had a great new start in life.. It has been a great challenge these past weeks. But with the help of my Family and Friends I hope I continue this amazing Journey with many lessons learned..
