So I went to the doctor last week for my 10 week post op visit and according to his scale I have lost 75 lbs! I have officially been downgraded from morbidly obese to severly obese.  I know that I still have a long way to go, but it felt so good to be out of the morbidly obese category.  I also made it past the halfway mark to my goal weight, but things are going so well that I might just lower it a little!

I had considered weight loss surgery many times over the past five years, but I just never felt like I was ready to take the plunge.  A few months ago, a friend that I had recently met at work came over to my house.  She was looking at an old much thinner picture of me when she asked who it was in the photo.  I think that was the last straw.  Had the old me really become that unrecognizable?  I guess 120 extra pounds  really covered a lot.  The next Monday I called to make an appointment for a consultation.   I ended up having the gastric sleeve 5-6-09.  It hasn't been that long since my surgery, but I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner.  I've already lost 52 lbs. and I feel soooo much better.  I think this is one of the best decisions that I've made in my life.
