18 months post op!

Dec 07, 2008

Wow! Time sure flies when you are having fun!!!!!  I can not believe it has been a year and a half since surgery. And wow what a ride it has been!  I don't make it here to blog much.  Not really a lot of changes to report like before.  I have maintained the same weight for some time.  Scale is not moving but my size in clothes has.  So that must mean I am gaining muscle????  Wow what a difference in what I can do this Christmas season from even last year when I had lost 100lbs.   Still have about 30lbs to lose to get to my goal.

Been feeling great though!  Had my gallbladder out in August.  And the recovery from that went very well.  So much easier to get around for everyday functions now. It is actually my 39th birthday tomorrow and the future looks so much different then it did before!!!  This surgery was the best decision I could have made for myself!!!

Surgiversary Trip Pics!

Aug 15, 2008

Well at 14 months we took our trip to Sea World in San Antonio to celebrate my one year success since the Gastric By Pass last year.  One of my goals was to ride a roller coaster and I rode the Steel Eel and let me tell you.  Standing under it I thought ....not bad I can do it.  Then later from across the park I realized how big it actually is  LOL!  Yeah ok I rode a roller coaster.....can't say I will do that again.  The kids and my husband were waiting on the ground and I was shaking so bad when I got off.  The guy next to me asked me on drop number 4 asked me if I was ok and I had to take a breath to answer him.  No wonder he asked me if I was okay.....I was not breathing  LOL!  But I did it!!!!!  And E and I rode the new water roller coaster that was not as bad....has one 150 ft drop in a pool of water but B got more soaked watching us from the side.  LOL!  Then the kids and I did what we have been waiting all year for!!!!!   We got i wet suits and got to be in he water with the Beluga whales!!!  My favorite whales!  Beautiful animals and what an amazing experience!!!!  The kids and I had a blast and to be in a wetsuit!!!   I would have never done that last year!  This whole experience has been amazing and it continues!  I had a consult last week for the next phase of this journey!  I have found the plastic surgeon that I will have chosen to take it to the next level and start  with the contouring and removal of the extra skin left by the weight loss.  I still want to loss another 20 -30lbs though I do know I have some weight in excess skin to be removed.  I now am at 180lbs which is a BMI of less than 30 which puts me at the OVERWEIGHT no longer obese.  Whooooo Hooooooo!  a great feeling.  So now we will start trying to see what I can get the insurance to cover.  A difficult fight I am told but one I will be persistent and you all know what I can accomplish when I make my mind up  LOL!

A little snag this week.  I had to have my gallbladder removed.  So that was surgery number 5 since the RNY.  Dr. Balette (bariatric surgeon) was the one that did the surgery and was able to "peek" at his handi work and all is well so that was good news.  I am a bit sore but I am recovering quickly so that is good.  It was laproscopic and so now i have mirrored scars on the right side to match the ones from the RNY last year  LOL!  Next surgery I want to have will be the plastics  LOL!

Stay tuned!

Can't believe I forgot to post on my one year surgiversary!

Jun 14, 2008

Well it is now two weeks past that and the mean scale moved  LOL!  So now I am closer to where I wanted to be at one year and I am hopeful that at one year and one month I will be able to say I made it.  But as of right now I am at 185lbs which means I have a BMI of 30.7.  Almost there.....at a BMI of 29.9 I will be in the overweight category....never to see obese there again.  I am now in a misses size 14 for the most part and since I was a womens 30-32 just one year ago that is a great accomplishment!!!!!

Hardest thing to do now is resist buying clothes  LOL!  I can get into clothes just off the rack ANYWEHERE and that is great!  But I am still get out of them so quickly so I am trying to resist buying too many.  It is ironic because I never bought clothes for myself.  Maybe a new outfit here and there but not much and now I am able to!  But if my clothes get baggy now they are gone right then.  I am not keeping my fat clthes anymore......I will NOT be needing them!

Been lots going on.....many of you know this already but a good friend of my daughter's passed away this week.  That has been tough as we went to her memorial on what would have bene her 9th birthday.  My daughter is doing ok though it gets tough at night and for 3 nights she has cried herself to sleep.  Her friend had been sick for two years (was diagnosed with cancer on her 7th birthday) and it became apparent recently that I needed to start tell dd about what to expect.  So I think it was not as hard as it could have been.  But then how much does a 9 year old understand death adn the passing of a friend.

I appreciate though that have sent kind words that are helping her through this.  She is also speding time with friends and together they will get through this.

But what I have noticed.  Stress triggers there BIG time!  So I have had to make an effort to remember to get in my protein first!!!!  Unfortunatly it appears that I can eat a bit more sugar that I could at first.  So I have to watch that too!

On a happy note I started a new job this week.  Some of you knew that I had put in for a promotion at work.  And I got it.  So this shoul dbe helping me with my hydration issues as I can have drinks at my desk and not spend the 12 hours fighting to get in my water and my protein all day.  Maybe that is why the scale moved!

Still have to get my one year surgiversary trip planned.  Will post the details once that happens!

Thank you to everyone that has been so supportive through all of this journey!

Whooooo hooooo! Onderland feels WONDERFUL!

Mar 19, 2008

That is right.  the scale is correct....I double and triple checked.  I weighed 198lbs today.  That is amazing!  I am so excited!  Next step is to be 180 by my surgiversary appt on May 29th.

9 month post op post a bit late!!!

Mar 16, 2008

Ok, so I am now 9 1/2 months post op and a little late posting  LOL!  I finally have posted my 9 month pictures as well as the merged images.  Wow sometime I do not realize where I have come until I see them all together like that.

The article for the hospital that many of you know about came out last month.  For those that are out of town......be watching your mailbox.  Of course at work it is hard to pass someone that has not seen it.  I get told almost everyday by someone "saw your picture" or "I showed my family your picture and how I know you".  Embarrasing but then also amazing.  I am sharing this journey with soooo many!!!!  Makes it all that more special.

This months NSV or non scale victory....we went to the rodeo and I rode rides with E and by that I mean rode in the same car with her.  For example we rode in the same bumper car and on the Ferris wheel.  I have never ridden rides with the kids and it has been a LONG time since I have ridden at all.

That and I have gone from a 4x (30/32) to a Large/X Large (14-16).   I have noticed just how great I have been feeling!!!  Just walking from the car to the stadium was an effort last year but this year I was the one dragging everyone else!!

I have 4lbs to go at this point to be in ONEderland (less than 200) so that is my next short term goal and my goal is to be 180lbs by my one year check up which puts my BMI  at just overweight instead of Obese.

Now that I have been released to excercise again after my other surgeries and am going to the gym and am seeing the stalled scale move again.

Watch for another update to come in just a few weeks as it is almost time for my 10 month pics!

Best Valentines Day Ever!!!

Feb 14, 2008

One I will remember forever....my daughter called me skinny today.  I had picked the kids up from the sitter and as E went out the door I managed to get behind it.  B went out and flung the door open so I was pinned against the wall and said " I am getting squished"  E says "B, mom may be skinny but you can still squish her with the door"  She thinks I am skinny!!!  Wow can't believe it!!!!!

Have not posted in awhile.  I do have 8 month pics guess I better post as it is almost time for 9 month pics.  Wow 9 months!!  I had another surgery (hysterectomy) on Jan 2nd so I have nto been able to do much or excercise or anythign for 6 weeks.  Can't wait to start back with that.  I have been off work but go back next week.  Ready to get back to routine and away from the carbs.

7 Months since surgery and finally down 100lbs!!

Jan 01, 2008

Yep I made it!  Down 100 lbs for a current weight of 218!  This has been amazing.  I can honestly say it is getting easier.  My pouch seems much less grumpy now....not so irritable which is nice.

We had a wonderful Holiday and you know what....I did not miss food though I did have to work at making good food choices.  The same triggers are still there and something I will have to work on forever!!!!

New Years was nice!  We had some friends over and had a blast!  I have included a picture of our family on New Year's Eve.  first family photo in years.

I am moving on to the next chapter in my life and will be having a Hysterectomy in the am.  So I am not sure what taking it easy for awhile will do to my weight loss.  However I will at least have the time to focus on my protein and water intake!!!!

Thank you to all my family and friends for your support and of couse for the support of my OH family.  I could not do it with out you most days!!!

Happy New Year!!!

Finally posted new pics!
