I have pretty much the typical story I guess. I started gaining weight when I was about 6 and pretty much never stopped. When I was 14 we moved overseas to Egypt and you couldn't help but lose weight when you have to walk everywhere you go and the food was gross. I went over there about 170 and came home about 130. I came home as a Junior and all the friendships had pretty much been established. When your in high school, kids can be very judgmental, and I was still considered one of the "fat" girls. No one ever said it but I could feel it. I got married and had babies and the weight just started coming back on again. I lost one time using Herbalife but I definitely gained that back, with more. I have been toying with WLS for a couple of years now and I had always said that if my insurance would cover it, I would get it. I couldn't wait that long. I got a promotion a couple of months ago that gave me a 50% raise and I told my husband that I wanted to do this for myself. He had a bad experience with a lady that he worked with that had had the RNY and was never able to get enough nutrition again and unfortunately she passed away, mainly because she "starved" to death. He saw that and was completely against the surgery until I showed him all the research I had done on the VSG. He read and we discussed. He finally said that he wasn't for it or against it but would support me in what ever I chose to do. So here I am. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 13th and I can't wait! I want to be healthy again. My new job requires me to go to more meetings and I don't want to have to go to the meeting 5 mins early just to make sure that I can get a comfortable seat. I want to be able to go to the movies and be comfortable again. I love my teen age daughters to death and am considered the "cool" mom with their friends but I never want them to be embarrassed because of me. I want to be able to shop for pretty clothes again and not just ones that I can find that fit. In other words...I want my life back!!!
