OMG!! I can't believe it's been 2.5 months since I updated this. I came through the surgery with flying colors. I have had NO complications and as of today 8/10 I have lost 56 lbs. I suppose it could be more if I did any exercise. I do mow the 1 acre yard with a push mower once every week or two. It's been so hot. We live 30 miles from the nearest mall. We also live way out in the country on a dirt and gravel road. Very hard to walk on. (I have a tendancy to fall and break bones!) Not much of an excuse. I HATE exercising. I HATE to sweat. Once it gets cooler and I lose a little more weight, I have a brand new bike (hubby does too) that I plan on riding.
I've been unemployed for 4 months and that isn't helping my depression any. I am in process of changing antidepressants.
I am having trouble drinking water. It tastes metalic. I have to put crystal light in it in order to get my liquids in. I eat alot of SF popcicles too.
I am having a little trouble with the denser meats. Roast beef tastes nasty to me. Baked chicken is too dry and gets stuck. I can eat pork (ham/chops). Even ground beef doesn't sit well. I actually prefer eating cottage cheese, FF refried beans, eggs, cream of wheat, jello... They at least taste good to me. I also supplement with half of a 50 Grand Slam if I haven't gotten at least 60 gms of protein for the day. My NUT says to stay around 600 calories per day at this point.
I will be seeing my Doc on 9/4 and will update then.

Well, two weeks from tomorrow is my surgery date. It seems like an eternity since I got approval, but it's really only a couple months. I have been on the pre-op diet for 2 weeks. I have been drinking my two shakes a day, but eating a bit more than I should for my daily "meal". I have got to get down to business now. No cheating from now on.
I am nervous because I really hate being put under. I have every confidence in my surgical team. I am a control freak and just hate having my "life" in someone elses hands.
I'm sure there will be more updates before the surgery.
to be continued.......

I had my filter put in this past Tuesday. It wasn't bad at all. I am a little sore at the surgical site, but it's getting better each day.
Just 5 days to go.......

This week has been a trying week as my husband has been and is still in the hospital. I can't go to see him everyday because the gas is so expensive and I lost my job a few weeks ago. Life has just suddenly seemed to fall apart.
I am working hard towards my surgery date. I have lost 4.5 lbs in the last two weeks...not much...but I didn't gain any. I thought I would have since I have been "saying good-bye" to a few things I know I will not be able to eat Post-op.
I have my Pre-op class on the 15th. I will officially start the preop diet that my doc uses. It's a modified Atkins diet. He said a high protein low carb diet will shrink that liver and make the surgery easier. I'm all for that.
I have also finally quit smoking. I am using the Chantix...it is working wonders for me. Unfortunately, some people have really macabre dreams/nightmares, hallucinations...
So...I am smoke free, down a couple pounds, starting to exercise a bit... I'm on my way.
