7 years out, Now enjoying life during thyroid cancer

Feb 16, 2009

Wow can I say 7 yearsout. do I have the 7 yr itch? I dont think I do but who knows where life is going to bring me.
I am maintaining below my goal at 145 pounds that is 5 pounds under my goal of 150. I did gain up to 160 with the thyroid problems but have lost the 15 pouds of the 20 I did gain. I aam glad of that.
I had to quit my job as a hairdresser for now. I plan on going back to work in October. I am giving myself that long to heel.
I have some travel plans for the summer to do before I settle back in the work force.
Not being obese or Morbid obese is the ticket to a thin life. My RNY did the trick for me and I would do it again in a heart beat. But this far out you have to keep in tune to what your body is telling you.
That is my advice for anyone contemplating having surgery weather it be RNY,DS I want to Thank Dr Tillquist he saved my life in more ways that one.

Update 01/16, 2009

Jan 16, 2009

Well it sure has been a long time since I have updated my blog. A lot has happened int he past year and a half.
We moved to Florida and relocated, and I have Thyroid Cancer.
My Thyroid was removed on December 23rd with the intention of removing only the nodules and low and behold I have Cancer. It sure was a shock of all shocks.
Moving onward, becasue of the cancer I had to quit my job and now am going to a radiation treatment. Ill have to take a radio active pill and be in thehospital for about 2 to 3 days.  Not sure how Ill do with being bypassed. So I chose the hospital route instead of  swallowing the pill and going home.
My weight is going up because of the thyroid. HELP!!!!! I have gained about 20 pounds but they said after they get me on Synthroid the weight will come off I sure hope so.
That is all for now.
