My story is pretty typical.  Moderately overweight as a child and teenager.  I have yo-yo dieted all my adult life.  I began dieting at 135 pounds and have dieted my way up to 244.  My BMI is around 38.  I've done calorie restrictions, exercise, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Adkins, over the counter medications and just about anything else that came along.  I can lose weight, I just gain it back plus more.  I got to the point where I was afraid to try anymore diets because I didn't want to end up bigger than I am.  My youngest daughter, who also battled obesity, had RNY over a year ago and has done wonderfully.  She gave me the courage to try once more.  I went to her surgeon and found out I qualify for surgery (high blood pressure, obstructive sleep apnea, GERD, etc).  My insurance (PHCS)required 12 months of consecutive physician supervised weight loss, so I began the long journey.  It seemed like it would take forever, but here I am, I just finished month 12 and they submitted my packet to the insurance company last week.  The office said I should hear something within the next 4 weeks.  I am so excited (and anxious, hoping I won't get rejected).
