Thanks so much to all who are supporting Carla and are welcoming her to the losing side. I had the opportunity to go to Pittsburgh to visit her on Friday evening and she looked wonderful. She is taking her pain medication and walking as often as possible. It won't be long now til she is out and about and feeling great. Thanks for your support!!!1

Good afternoon, AMOS friends! I'm here to let you know that my surgery on Thursday, 9/11/03, went very well. I had Lap RNY at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Giselle Hamad was my surgeon, and she is just wonderful. Surgery began at about 7:30 (I'm assuming, since I wasn't awake after I left the pre-op area!), and she was telling my hubby that everything went great at about 9:45! No problems, complications, and I'm feeling pretty good for only being 3 days out! I'm a little gassy, and have some pain in my stomach at the incision sites, but it's being managed well with liquid Roxicet. The care I received at Magee was very good, so I have no complaints there. All in all, a near-perfect surgery experience.<p>I want to express special thanks to my ANGEL 1, Jane Tell, and my ANGEL 2, Deena Dreher. They were terrific. Both visited me at the hospital on Friday - Deena made up a basket for me containing all the things a new post-op might need, like Crystal Light drink mixes, sugar free puddings, protein drinks, and even some great shower stuff from Bath and Body Works. Thank you, Deena! Jane came that evening and brought with her a beautifully printed and bound edition of all the support messages I received from so many AMOS members! You gals really rock! Thank you, also, to all the AMOS members who posted supportive message for me. It means a great deal to know that so many people are thinking about you and sharing their wisdom. I'll post again soon.

Good luck on your surgery Thursday. I had mine done 9/5 and I feel great. No problems at all. Surgery was a breeze. They put a mask on you, then you wake up. All done. I've been following my Doctor's orders and walking, drinking my water and blowing in that stupid sprimater(sp). If the nurses don't encourge you to walk, do it yourself. Take charge of your recovery. Best of luck to you, Christy in Utah.

Best wishes to you for an uneventful surgery and a recovery thats as quick and painfree as possible. This quote is from a book my grandmother gave me before she passed away. It was one of her favorites.(Kahlil Gibran) "But if in your thought you must measure time into seasons, let each season encircle all the other seasons, and let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing"
