3+ years post-op

Apr 12, 2012

Quick update on my progress:

*I had my 3 year post-op last month (little late) and have lost 172 pounds total!!!!  I am able to be active with my girls and love being outside and off the couch.
*Sadly my marriage is coming to an end but I do not blame the wls and I don't think he does either.
*I would love to have the skin removed and hope in time I can.
This surgery has been the tool I needed to keep this weight off.

Update

Oct 18, 2009

Been a while since I last updated.  Everything is going great here with my weight loss.  At my six month (August) post op I had lost 101 lbs. YEA ME!!!  I was so excited, that put me down to 204lbs.  I go for my 9 month post op on Nov. 10Th and as of this morning I weigh 185lbs, only eight lbs from what I weighed when I found out I was pregnant with my girls (who are 10 now).  I'm wearing a size 12 in Levi's and large in most shirts.  I have lots a loose skin and hope in time some will go back but know surgery is the only fix.  I will just hide it as well as I can for now because I have to pay this surgery off before I have anymore. LOL  My husband went to work offshore at the endof May and we now have insurance again.  Found out they cover 90% for WLS but I told my husband I'm glad I did it when I did.  Thanks for all the support!  Hope everyone is doing well!

I Fit on All the Rides!!!

May 26, 2009

Well, I went for my 3 month post op on May 11 and lost 60 lbs.  I was hoping for the 70 lbs. she thought I would lose, but am happy with what I have lost.  Left on the 15th for Florida.  I fit on every ride at Disney and Universal!  That was the best feeling and even though it rained everyday we had a great time. When I got home I could fit into a pair of size 16 Levi's Capri that were too tight when we left so all that walking in Florida paid off.

6 Week Post Op

Mar 27, 2009

I had my 6 week post op with the nurse on Wednesday and so far I have lost 38 lbs.  She advanced my diet from full liquids to soft foods.  Who knew a saltine could taste so good lol.  In two weeks I can add seafood.  Then won't advance until 3 mo. post op check up.  I go on May 11 to see Dr. and leave for Disney on May 15th.  My family is so excited I just pray I will have lost enough to ride the rides with my girls.

Post Op Appt

Feb 24, 2009

Went for my post op yesterday and have lost 22 lbs. so far.  Advanced my diet to full liquids instead of clear only.  Will have this diet for 4 weeks, but I can drink what I can tolerate instead of 1 oz. at a time.

one week post op

Feb 21, 2009

I've been home one week today and I feel 10 times better.  I didn't actually feel bad when I came home, just very sore.  My left side hurt more than anything from what I thought was a pulled muscle.  I felt the muscle "pull" when I would get up from the bed in the hospital.  I didn't want to hurt anyone so I  got up by myself.  The pulled muscle has kept me from being comfortable sitting or laying.  I've not slept over 3 hours at a time since the surgery. I called the doctors' office about the muscle and they said that was a common complaint. I am not hungry which I was told I wouldn't be my doctors and my friend who had the surgery, but I could not believe it would be that way for me; but it is woohoo!  I feel thirsty at times, but that is about it.  I am so pleased with the surgery and to have no complications.  I did not use my pain pump very much and was sitting in the chair before I could hold my eyes open good.  I walked that night and twice the next day before the doctors came around, so they were pleased.  I have been on clear liquids since 2/8/09 (doctors wanted me to start day before surgery, but started early on my own)  and I am so ready to have something different.  I'm not hungry just bored with apple juice, sf jello, etc...  I go for my post op on Monday 2/23/09 so they will advance my diet then, but I don't know if I will start Monday or need to wait until Thursday which will be 2 weeks.  I weighed Wednesday where my MIL works (they have Dr scales) and I have lost 13 lbs.  More later.  Thanks to my OH family for your support!

New Date!

Feb 02, 2009

Dr. Barnes' office called and wanted to know if I would like to have my surgery on the 12th instead of the 17th.......
and I said YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm  so excited.  They said my test results were in and they had my files from my other doctors.  I guess my doctors are as excited for me as I am.

I HAVE A DATE!!!

Jan 27, 2009

I went for my seminar with Dr. Barnes yesterday.  It was a very informative secession held in their office waiting room.  The intimate setting made it more comfortable for me than other wls seminars I have attended. Dr. Barnes answered all questions asked during the seminar and held nothing back.  After the seminar we were able to have our one on one secession with either doctor.  I had chosen Dr. Stephanie when I filled out my loan application.  She was sweet and very compassionate.  She went over my medical and diet history then did a physical examination.  I asked how soon I could have the surgery and she said how soon can you loose 15 lbs.  I told her I could do it in 2 weeks.  She asked if I was sure because I had to lose the weight so my liver would shrink.  I assured her I could do it.  We scheduled my EGD for 2/06/09 and my surgery for 2/17/09 I went for my psychiatric evaluation when I left their office.  The psychologist said I was more educated on wls than any other patient she had evaluated.  I told her I have been researching the surgery for over eight years.  I am so excited to start my new life.  I called my mom on the way home and told her if she wanted to be included in my process she could; however I did not need her approval and would like her support.  She was at the dentist and said we could talk later, but I have not talked to her yet.  I told my dad a little earlier today as I was not sure if she had told him (they got divorced last month).  She had told him but she did not have a date so I gave him my date and he said he would be there to support me and that he knows I must lose the weight and have tried for years on my own with no success on keeping it off.  I told him this surgery was the tool I needed to keep the weight off for good.  Thanks for all your support.
