Marathon Run

Feb 18, 2009

Well, last Saturday I completed the Myrtle Beach Marathon, running the 26.2 mile course in 5:38:21.  I was hoping to finish in less than 5:30, but am happy to have completed the entire marathon.
After getting back to work, a friend told me that he wants to train for the Columbus Marathon in October.  I'm still debating with myself if I want to run in that marathon and just realize that I need to give myself some time to recouperate and then make the decsion.
There are some other runs that I want to do in the fall, and don't want to compromise doing those runs in order to train for the marathon, so I'll take some time, weigh my options, then make a decision.

The week leading up to the marathon was fun.  I spent the week in Myrtle Beach with some friends.  We did some horseback riding on the beach, which probably wasn't the best thing to do before running a marathon, but I don't think it ended up hurting and we enjoyed the ride and watching the dolphins swimming up and down the coast line.  It might have been a little less painful if the ride were a tad bit shorter.

I'm back to work now and have been tired this week.  Not sure if that's all from trying to recover from running the marathon or if I'm fighting off what most of my co-workers were fighting off last week while I was gone.  I do feel a little better tonight, so hopefully it's just a matter of getting back to my work routine.
