I Got a Date!!

Oct 25, 2008

Nov 4th, in 10 days!!!!

VSG with Dr Aceves!!!!  I'm so excited.  So now it's crunch time.  He said I did not hasve to follow a pre op diet, si the next two days I'm trying to eat all of my favorite foods.  Then I am gonna start a slow down, a little more protein and less carb.  And I will be hitting the treadmill hard...and blowing up my ballons.

Just wanted to update a little.  Gotta run!!

New Direction

Oct 21, 2008

Been gone for a while, licking my wounds.  My husband resigned his job, so now we are dealing with that.  I thought my surgery was a no go anymore, but I have since decided that I still may be able to pull it off through continuation with Cobra.  We have it covered until Jan, then we can pay it ourselves.

So, now I am looking into VSG.  mainly because of costs and lower rate of long term complications.  If I self pay, I will go to Mexico.

My spirits have been low, but are beginning to perk back up a bit.  We have to sell our home and move out of State, our choice.  The market sux and we haven't even had a showing for our house.  That's a big bummer since we live in a small community in Alaska that has very few employment options for my husband.  Moving is pretty much a neccesity.  We are looking at moving back to the East Coast to be near my family.  Wish us luck!

Thanks to all my Forum friends who have remained supportive.  Bless you all.

Chillin' Out!

Aug 26, 2008

I've decided to chill out for awhile.  I seem to keep putting my foot in my mouth.  when I try to be helpful, I just piss everybody off.  So I am going to take a step back and just lurk.  I need to practice respect for the ones who have gone before me.  I will let THEM do all the talking for now.  I really don't have many questions at this time. I'm In a holding pattern until Jan when we change INS co's.  I would like to pick a surgeon, but wonder what is the point.  I have no idea which surgeons are on Aetna's preferred list.
Things are good.  Attitude is positive.  Doing my time and dreaming of better days post op!

Boogie No More!

Jul 29, 2008

Well, things are starting to suck again.  just learned that my insurance carrier is changing in Jan.  I will be in the middle of the approval process then.  I think I'm screwed.  I won't know what type of plan I have until Sept.  We could even have an exclusion policy. I know NOTHING!!
Going to be freaking out for a while.  So much for my Blue Cross Boogie.  Not feeling like dancing now.Thinking I might better get a passport.  Might be going on vacation to Brazil instead of Vegas.  I am not a happy camper.  I need morphine!!
Going on a chocolate and Woo Woo diet!  BCBS doesn't require a NUT visit.  I'm betting Aetna does.  I totally expect to be denied for DS anyways.  Appeal I will...but to whom?
I may have to change my happy avatar to a pissed off and confused one.  Over and Out

Blue Cross Boogie

Thanks to everyone here who took me out of my funk and set me back on the path to success.  I've now decided to Dance the Jig with a smile on my face.  I will jump through the hoops BCBS wants me to do and I will stick the landing.  I can do this.  THEY should be afraid of ME!!
You make me feel like dancing...

What a WOW kinda day!

Jul 05, 2008

I have received all kinds of information today.  Never even considered self pay in Brazil before...but even that's on the table now.

Had great news about my approval being possible.  I feel my spirits lifting!

but, alas, with the good comes the bad.  I have a nasty head cold.  I want to die kinda cold.  Hopefully it will pass quickly.  Afterall, Monday is my big day to start hitting up all the powers that be controlling my future WLS.  I am coming and I am packing!

Sweet dreams!

New Resolve

Jul 04, 2008

Today began with depression over the hurdles of my choices for WLS, the Surgeon, wanting DS, waiting 6 months, dealing with the insurance company...etc...you know.  You've all been there.

Tonite I made a list of PRO-ACTIVE things I can do on Monday.  I'm feeling much better now.  I think I will keep my spirits up at least until I meet with the surgeon on 7/16.

I have had many wonderful  responses today from forum members.

THANKS TO ONE AND ALL!!!

PRO-ACTIVE  NOT INACTIVE!!  my new motto!

Duodenal Switch

Jul 03, 2008

Now I am focused on the DS.  It will be an uphill battle because my insurance lists it as uncovered for unsafe and inadequate reasons.  I am bummed.  Still struggling with this whole process.  I have posted on the DS forum.  Maybe I will get some helpful news.

June 26, 2007 It Has Begun!

Jun 25, 2008

Officially started the 6 month supervised diet today.  BMI 37.2  197lbs.

I have been told by my insurance case coordinator that my preferred surgeon, Dr, Wittgrove is a Non-contracted Doctor.  However, I have been doing some reading and I understand that a Non-Contracted doctor can be used but you will either have to pay a percentage yourself, or anything over customary.  Or the may refuse all together.  Getting in touch with my case nurse is slow.  I hope to corner her on several issues soon.
But the good news is that I have finally started the process.  I have wasted 6 weeks not knowing what I needed to do.  But, what can you do except go forward with what you have.

Thanks to all who have shown me support and understanding.
