I had a Laproscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass on February 11th, 2004. The day of surgery I weighed 263 lbs. This was down from 270 lbs shortly before the surgery. I got approved after the first request letter sent to my insurance company. I went into the hospital on Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 for surgery and was in a room about 5:30 that evening. I got up around 11:00 PM that night and took my first walk around. I felt as if someone had ran into my abdomen with a Mack truck! I was really sore but I was very happy because I knew it was the start to a slimmer me. I was dying for something to drink but you can only have a few ice chips till they X-ray you and check for leaks. I think I had that done on Friday morning the 13th. That afternoon I got some juice to drink and got a meal that evening. I was stuffed after a few drinks of juice and some broth and a couple of bites of jello. Once I ate something they let me go home. I didn't have any problems other than self induced ones like eating to fast causing me to vomit and I picked up something to heavy a couple of weeks after the surgery and made my abdomen hurt and a little more sore for a few more days.

Nov 2004 I am about 10 months post op now and weigh 155 lbs a loss of 115 lbs since my heaviest weight. My goal is to be about 145 to 150 lbs. I am so thankful to God, my doctor, and my family for the weight loss and the support on the journey to a slimmer and healthier me. If anyone is considering this surgery I highly recommend it and my surgeon; Doctor Cason.

9-20-2005 It has been 19 months since my surgery and I have lost about 20 to 25 more pounds and seem to be maintaining between 130 and 135 lbs now, half of my highest weight before surgery. My clothing sizes have went from XL and 2XL shirts to small, and my pants from 46 waist to 28 waist.
